    Replacing something damaged is not compensation.

    Yes it is (assuming of course the replacement is provided by whoever caused the damage).

    That's exactly what compensation is for - putting the person back in the situation they were in beforehand, as far as possible.

    As I said earlier, it's about how you value your time. Let's assume the OP has spent 2-4 hours on getting this resolve all in all. That means he values his spare time at being £7.50 and £15.00 an hour. My spare time is worth considerably more than that.

    I suspect if op found £30 a lot of money then he wouldn't have spent it on a single t shirt
