New guy with a problem

Quick update, I heard nothing from WHS so I found the tel. number and called them. The girl was very helpful and understood my concerns, she asked if a £30 cheque would sort the problem out, I agreed and it's in the post for me.... Big smiley face....0

Good, I don't think you needed to go through the time and expense to return the shirt at all, the manager saw the tear and that should be enough.0 -
I wonder why you heard nothing back from them after threatening to 'take it further'... hmmm....0

Only because the OP was being reasonable, many would try claiming for a shirt worth hundreds of pounds.
Just as many people would also accept that these things happen and replace the £30 shirt themselves. Have we really become so pathetic that we can't take personal responsibility when 'life' happens? If I got my shirt caught on a shelf in WH Smith I'd let a member of staff know about the shelf so that it could be addressed and to prevent others getting caught on it. That would be the end of the matter. The shirt would go in the bin and I'd consider buying myself a new one.
You have to ask yourself, how much is my time worth? Is it worth all of the hassle the OP has went through to get a measley £30?0 -
I would'nt of given a ripped shirt a second thought, it was simply an accident. This country is getting compo crazy.0

Replacing something damaged is not compensation. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

The point is whether the store was liable for the damage or not. Corners exist in all walks of life, amongst many other hazards which we will all at some point hit and potentially cause some damage which would be considered our own fault and not that of the owner of the item0
