There is no way out , only way is to buy out the remainder of the contract ie 9 months times £30 = £270
valuable lesson is send them abroad with a £9.99 PAYG mobileEx forum ambassador

Hi, student daughter lost phone I phone whilst on holiday, is only covered for theft on insurance, really needs to get out of 02 contact in order to solve this "massive problem" ! Can anyone help ?
As Browntoa has said the way out it to pay the contract off.
However why not get o2 to send a new SIM, and put it in a cheap £10 PAYG phone, at least you going to get value from the contract rather than pay £270 just to cancel it. Or if she really wants an iPhone get one sium free and put that in that.
I hope you / she also cancelled it with O2, otherwise there may be a large roaming bill to come soon.0 -
Yup, I smashed my Iphone 7 months into a 24 month contract and didn't have insurance. I had to pay until the contract ended. Got myself a cheapy PAYG phone to cover me until I was Free of the iphone contract.
Not O2's fault you lost the phone is it?
Frustrating though! - I feel your pain :cool:0 -
She did report sim stolen asap? Please say yes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

Surely closing your contract is worst (most expensive ) way out
Just buy a replacement handset for the one you lost ( huawei ascend g300 for $100?) And keep your contract, free mins, texts and data
Tbh I'm thinking about buying new phone myself and I haven't lost mineWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -
What about a nice T-mobile Vivacity? You can get them on special offer for £39 (if you take £10 cashback into account). Unlock and get a new O2 sim and you're ready to go!
I don't know why anyone pays big monthly bills to get an expensive phone.0
