It's on special at asda. All types £2 for a large block (400g). Gave it a try again and it was actually very nice

The remaining Wyke cheese is going to be used in certain dishes I cook and freeze for my OH to take up to Scotland, where he works for half the month. Waste not!

But it is not a cheese I'd eat for the sake of it's taste.

I'm not surprised by JodieW stating this cheese has 'unique flavour.' It really is uniquely awful!
  • It's designed for people who eat cheese by the pound. Quantity over quality and all that. Plus a greater profit margin on cheese than there is on milk.

Some people like greasy slabs of 'stuff' to add a layer of oiled glue to their meals. Helps it slide down quicker and the fat carries the molecule that provide flavour to the body's taste receptors.

Personally, I'd rather go without if I can't have a proper cheese. But I'm not everybody.

Horses of courses, I suppose. If you want volume and fat for a lower price, go for it. If you like proper cheeses with good flavour, get less and enjoy it. It just won't ever come from Wyke Farm or any other brand flogged BOGOF for a brick sized slab.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Made in Britain, we should support out manufacturers

Simply because something is made in Britain, that does not make it a great product. The Austin Allegro springs to mind! :D

I think my gripe boils down to the fact the manufacturer is plugging it as a marvellous 'eating' cheese. No. Really, no!
