Dogs and Dowsing

I know..... but I have started to dowse and had some quite good results. The only problem is that one of my westie girls hates it. She puts her ears back and her hackles rise. I know that dogs are very intuitive and intelligent but I cant understand her reaction? I guess she is feeling the energy and doesnt like it?
She leads a pampered life and I have had her since a puppy runt of her litter (as is her sister). Just wondered if you had any experiences of this or dogs reacting strangely in general. Thanks x

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

What are you dowsing for? water, ley lines, a pot of gold?
If you go into a trancy thing when you are doing it, this is more likely to freak the dog out as it's behaviour from you that she does not know how to react to.
I'm not knocking dowsing, as have seriously considered trying it, we have a load of springs in our garden that is on a downhill slope, with various springs coming through the garden, so would love to find the route, and plant my runner beans on it. So any tips in the dowsing department - please post on Greenfingered section. We also have loads of hazel as it grows naturally here.0 -
Maybe she is responding to the change in your attitude or demeanour?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Hi and thanks for the responses.
She doesnt like me using small dowsing rods (old coat hangers shaped) as it involves me walking around the house. Now bearing in mind that Im very wobbly as have neurological issues. Perhaps she thinks I will fall as she is very wary and caring having fallen in her presence many times - she does not cause the falls though as she keeps out of my way:eek:
No trances for me just concentration. Im mainly dowsing for water as water companies do and as I say am very inexperienced. I showed my husband her reaction and he was astonished as it is totally out of character and she has never shown it before. My other westie is just fine and just looks at me oddly as if to say "Oh mum what you up to now?"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

my OH works for a water company - and believe it or not, uses dowsing rods (usually to locate water pipes where not shown on his computer - or to locate leaks). They are actually more accurate than the hi tech gizmos. and he is not alone - most of the men doing the same job uses rods. OH is the last person you would think would believe in dowsing. Yet he swears by them!
I use either rods or crystals for dowsing. depending on what I 'feel' would work best. any metal rods will do - but the most sensitive ones are made of copper - mine are and I think they are fantastic. but, I will use old coathangers if nothing else available, they are fine, especially to practice with. for close work with maps I prefer to use a crystal pendant. this too is easy to learn. and you can use any crystal that appeals to YOU.
you say that your pet doesnt like you using them - I think its to do with the energy it generates (I sometimes feel it through the rods - like a 'vibration' and that is a good sign that you are in tune with the rods).
so, best to put the dog in another room or outside when you practice indoors with the rods.
or leave the dog indoors and practice outdoors.
Keep practicing OP and have faith in the rods and your ability.0 -

dowsing is an ancient art. it is usually used to find water sources underground. but its not confined to water. you can also find metals or lost objects.
Purists use forked hazel twigs - others have great results using wire bent into right angles.
put simply, if you are trying to find an underground water source then you walk over the ground holding your hazel twig or two wires bent into right angles. when you are over your water source the twig will twist and point to the ground. The wires will cross. It's a tried and true method of finding water.
People may scoff - but I know that it works. My OH knows it works and he is a total sceptic, but he uses rods cos he cannot rely on the old maps.
Not everyone can do it - just this week my OH was saying that a workmate wouldnt use the rods cos they didnt work for him.
you dont want to go into trance - you need to be aware, relaxed yet keep in mind what you are looking for.0
