You can do this yourself online by using the Real Time Billing option on our website. Just pop in up to date meter readings and select 'request a bill.' As this isn't the final bill, it will include your discount.

I am looking to move away from Eon to another supplier and came across this "no discount on final bill" when speaking to a representative of your company over the phone today.
There were a couple points I made:
1. I asked how to create an "interim bill" just before my planned tranfer date to circumvent this "no discount on final bill" rule. I was told it was not possible but you seem to say different.
2. I think this "no discount on final bill" is a hidden penalty charge. Clearly, I wil have met all my oligations upto the end of the bill period - i.e paid all bills by DD and continued to have duel fuel from Eon.
So what is the justification for not giving the discount on the final bill, apart from "its in the T&C's"? This term seem to be misleading and unfair and I think worth challenging, something I will do when I do get my final bill and dont get my discount.0 -

I am reading this as I switch away from EDF and I noticed that EDF have an interesting policy around this topic...
Basically if I notify them before the last day of my plan that I intend to move away, they will keep me on the fixed rate plans until the switch happens, so long as the new provider contacts EDF within 15 days of the plan end date.
Is that just EDF or a industry rule? if the latter could that help you with Eon?0 -
I spoke for a long time to someone from Eon tonight who was phoning after I complained that they had the cheek to increase my direct debit following the ending of my Saveonline9 contract.
After agreeing not impose the increased direct debit, he said that I could send them a meter reading on the day of my contract ending in order to have a bill at the very end of the saveonline9 contract. I mentioned that the rep has signified on this site that I might not be able to send them a reading if my tranfer to the new company was already in progress. He said that I could definitely get a bill for the period when my contract ends provided I send a reading.
"Just a quick heads up. Once your new supplier applies for the account, the Real Time Billing option won't be available."
Is therea difference between Real time billing and sending a meter reading?
I agree with you that there is no justification of no discount for a final bill once a contract ends. Hopefully my final bill will not be for many days, but I will still challenge it.0 -

Its not an industry rule unless its a unilateral variation. However, you knew about it as it was the agreement at the time of taking the contract.
Ofgem should extend it to do what EDF are...which, and I can't believe I am saying this...EDF seem to have gone above requirements and introduced a Best Practice policy on this issue.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

To be honest my wife and I don't recall knowing about this at the start, we only found out because they sent me a letter informing me about the expiry of the plan and also explaining the process for staying with them or switching away.
Usually I have issues with EDF every now and then but for once I'm so impressed. Apparently their their new Blue plan they will also proactively let you know if a competitor has a cheaper plan than the blue plan and won't hit you with termination fees. Although the comparison is based in average consumption levels and not tailored to your usage, so I'm slightly less impressed with this bit.
However - would this be a key selling feature for selecting my next plan? Not really, mostly comes down to £ which is why I am switching! Ok enough about EDF, this is a E.On thread.

I think E.On agree with you. This is from the 4 July press release about "Reset" progress "all discounts paid on final bills. All final bills include discounts calculated during that period":T
Perhaps the E.On rep can inform us of the effective date.0 -

They have to let you know about unilateral changes the same way but the industry gives you a period to switch. So, if you were say on a standard rate and they decide to increase prices, you get this option as you were not aware.
With an offered contract, whether you switch via it or simply change tariff with the current supplier, you should be informed of when the deal ends and what you change to. This would also be in the t&c's. So, they can say you knew hence it can't be unilateral. You may miss it, but by doing these actions, they cover themselves.
Its good that EDF apply the same principle, its a good example of a customer /centric company. I just hope Ofgem force it in to stop the others being sneaky.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
