I have previously claimed income support and mortgage interest payments which ceased less than 12 months ago. I have had to reclaim again due to a change of circumstances, do I still have to wait the 13 week period for mortgage interest payments. My partner and I both work part time and are both in receipt of carers allowance, my partner also receiveS DLA.

Here is the lowdown on SMI payments:
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/DG_180321
Rules that apply to SMI since 5 January 2009
From 5 January 2009 if you were getting income-based Jobseekers Allowance, Income Support or income-related Employment and Support Allowance, most claims for SMI came under new rules including:
waiting 13 weeks from the date you claim before you get SMI (this is known as a waiting period and was previously 39 or 26 weeks)
being able to claim for mortgage interest on up to £200,000 of your mortgage (this was previously £100,000)
getting paid SMI for up to two years only if you are getting income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
I would contact your local JC to see what they say.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
Good grief! you both work, albeit part time, both provide 35 hours of care to someone and you are expecting what I pay in tax to support your claim so that you can get your mortgage paid as well??
The sooner UC and PIP come in the better.
Unbelievable.
Good grief, you have changed your tune - only the other day you were advocating ...There are three pages of messages, yet most people are only interested criticising the poster.
Why do people reply to posts when they only want to make personal comments and do not offer any advice or help??
Does it really matter if the poster only wanted to find a legitimate way round her circumstances to ensure that she maximises her benefit entitlement?
If it is legal, then there is nothing wrong - despite what others might think. They must either be jealous or have nothing else in their lives.
It's a sad sad world.
Come on, own up, you're a troll and that is why you were banned from MSE, isn't it? https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/41048030 -

What is the reason why you ceased claiming IS? The linking period will depend on this.0 -

Keep each posting separate as well as the replies and then you won't get confused!
It isn't me who is getting confused here. It's you. You seem to think that being banned by the Forum Team, who have even gone to the extent of blocking your ISP, means you can just get another ISP and another name and carry on posting. As has already been pointed out - it doesn't mean that at all.
You argue that it isn't right for someone who owns their home, albeit most of it probably belongs to the bank in actual fact, to be able to claim benefits to which they are entitled by law. But that it is ok for someone to try to milk the system to ask if they can be a single parent, claiming rent, income support, council tax and goodness knows what else when also married? Strange ethics you have.0 -
