However, most will not give you a choice because they agree contracts with the two companies. VISA have lost out in recent years with credit card companies preferring Mastercard, whereas debit cards are still mainly VISA.
More choices needed, not voted.0 -
The way I see it there's only two choices. Banks and card issuers don't issue AMEX as far as I know. If I put an "Other" or "Don't care" or "Any" option that wouldn't provide a clear result other than that people don't mind which they have.
If a bank gave a customer the choice then the customer would have to choose. That's the theme of the poll.0 -
Yes, but banks don't give a choice any longer because of contracts being in place. Go back 10,20,30 years ago they did give a choice.
Banks/card companies do issue Amex cards...Lloyds/MBNA etc0 -
I've only ever had MasterCard but I'm just about to receive my 1st visa credit card. I can't say that I prefere either as it doesn't make a difference most retailers accept both.0

Visa, but only because I have Mastercard at the moment and it would have meant I could have bought Paralympic tickets on a CC if I had had Visa.
As the choice is so specific to these circumstances I haven't voted.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
People say that in some locations one is preferred to the other.
In my travels in US/Canada, Europe, SE Asia, Japan, I've never encountered a place that accepts one but not the other. I suppose the only obvious exception is the Olympics.
So I really don't care. I suppose it is better to have one of each in case of some kind of network failure.0
