British Gas not sending me a final bill!!!

We all moved out of shared flat on Saturday 24th Feb, i called BG on Monday 26th Feb to give them the final meter readings for electricity ad gas....waited and waited...didn't receive a bill so called them just over a week ago, apparently someone forgot to press the submit button but everything else had been input....the person the phone said that was BG's fault and she would make sure it was now pressed and i should receive the bill within a few days (even checked again that they had the correct new address for me).

I still have not received it!!! The chances of me being able to track down my ex-flatmates for their share are getting slimer by the day (not that BG would care)...what can i do to get them to send me the bill??

Its in my name so they're not going to care that 5 people rented the flat....and can i ask BG as a goodwill gesture to knock some money off the remaining bill???

Thanks for any advice!!!

If everything goes through automatically they can take as little as 10 days, if not it has to go in a queue for an indian to look into it which can delay it by up to a month. Call back, say you want to speak to a manager as you should have had the bill by now, etc - they will then put you through to the customer liason team who can close accounts manually if it hasn't already gone through, they should also be able to tell you how much it is over the phone.

Doubt you'll get much in the way of compo, you should get a fiver for your calls out of them if you try, possibly a tenner if you're really lucky.

That's nothing! I haven't had a gas bill from BG for 6 months (and it's not for want of trying!). BG seem to think I'm £88 in credit (which I'm not alas) and when I switched to Ebico in February, I received a final electricity bill within a couple of weeks but the gas bill...well...I've tried emailing several times with no success (in fact no reponse) so I don't know what else to do....truly flabbergastingly bad customer service!!:rotfl:

That would be the frontline team, Jeannine, there have been numerous complaints about them on here where they simply don't sort accounts out or ignore them. Someone has posted a number for them on here before, it's 08459 555 703, it may be worth you speaking to them direct, if that fails go to energywatch ;)

My daughter, who shares a house with other students, is getting the same problem. Gas and electricity supplied by BG and account was registered in her name last May. There has still been no bill for Gas - everytime we phone or email we are told it has been sorted out but the gas bill never arrives. For electricity, she did eventually get an estimated bill but it was the final demand, with threat of disconnection unless paid within a couple of days. The original bill and reminder never came and this has now happened twice. BG blame the Royal Mail but it is too much of a coincidence. We're exasperated, the bills will be huge by now and the sharers are all living on student loans. Any ideas about who we can contact to get this sorted out properly, instead of just being told it is sorted by someone at a call centre and then nothing happens

As I'm not in the same position as your daughter Bluefox, I've decided just to wait (and wait and wait and wait and wait...) and see how long it takes for BG to get themselves organised.

    BS are useless.

I am being dealt with by their Frontline team - all will be sorted in 28 days I was told in the middle of Feb.

Last week I was told it would all be dealt with within 28 days - again. so that is two lots of 28 days.

I just don't care anymore - they do not return calls or emails, so I will wait for the next bill and see what fun can be had then.
We all evolve - get on with it

ok finally got a final bill today - the first time i called when someone forgot to press the submit button the guy had said we owed £100 for gas were £15.34 in credit for electricity, when i later called the lady who informed me that the submit button has not been pressed said she couldn't see what the final bill was as everything had processed apart from submitting the submit button.

The bill is actually £202.41 for gas and £32.86 for electricity - i don't get how they could see one thing before when i gave them the final reading and the actual amount is twice that!!!

I saw the other thread huge bill - do you think it is possible for BG to have billed us incorrectly - I paid £45 a month for gas and £30 a month for electricity on the 20th of each month, moved in 2nd Sept-24th Feb so 6 direct debit payments to BG in total...4 bedroom flat...

plus the £202.41 and £32.86 outstanding on top of the direct debits...

    thanks for any help!
