    Hiya,

Stuck at home, car failed mot yesterday because front tyres were fitted facing wrong way. Not happy as i had this done at a different garage afew months ago and had a refund for all the work they did to immobiliser as they did a bodge job.

So retest couldnt be done yesterday as garage 1 couldnt fit me in to swap tyres.

They are a bosch affiliated company so complained to bosch this morn re silly mistake, they were gob smacked. Said it was really dangerous in wet weather and i should have been given new tyres not just had them swapped. Waiting to hear back.

Tricia, just posted your goodies so should be with you in a few days x

only just saw this when somebody quoted it

    thank you :T :T :T

what difference would switching to bt for fibre optic make, talktalk (aol) use bt phone lines.

I could be wrong - but I was under the impression that the fibre optic system was separate and didn't use the phone cacles. I was told that the distance from the echange would be irrelevant as there would be no 'drop off' of signal etc.

We have to switch ours off and on around 40 times a day, it's that bad. Otherwise we would have no connection at all. It really is a nightmare. I've been with AOL for 15 years and have had more problems since Talk Talk took over than we've had the whole 15 years. I keep threatening to switch to another but that means going without whilst it's switching. Obviously i can't live without the Internet :D
I'm really pleased yours seems to be better now and hopefully it will stay that way.

I did once request an engineer but was told if it wasn't at fault with the line then I would have to pay the call out charge, which was something like £100 so I didn't bother.

I can help, if you switch over it all happens at once, don't let them tell you otherwise. You request you MAC code and give that to your new supplier on the day they will text and you tell you it is live, if they provide a router simply turn it on and it will be there.. If they don't give you a router you will just have to update your info on your router to the new supplier, there is NO interruption to your service...

Now onto your problem it sounds like your exchange is not locking to your best speed, if you don't want to move tell them to reset your IP profile that should solve your problem, also dial 17071 and press the option that says "quiet line check" listen to make sure no noise, if there is noise it is a engineer visit at no cost to you.

I was initially told that re costs of a visit - but, given their total inability to resolve my problems (or even agree amonst themselves as to exactly what the problem was) I got them to back down on the charge. I had to be VERY firm with them though :D. (I also screwed a £25 refund out of them for my wasted time and their idiocy). Your problems appear even worse than mine so I would certainly have another go - insist on speaking to a senior staff member and you might also try demanding they escalate to Level 2 Complaints (which gets you through to an Irish call centre who seem to have a bit more power).
