There was a toy down to £3 from £6.99 and had a "half marked price" sticker on it, so expected to get it for £1.50 and the SA thought otherwise. I emailed HO and today I got this back:
Thank you for your email concerning your recent visit to our Camberley store and for giving me this opportunity to investigate your concerns about the pricing of a JCB power tool.
As retailers we expend much time and effort to ensure prices displayed on our products are correct. The company also engages systems and procedures for the checking of prices and tickets to ensure that information displayed is clear for customers.
While the intention was for the product to be reduced to half price I appreciate the ‘half marked price’ sticker on the toy appears misleading when used in conjunction with a shelf edge sale reduction.
On behalf of the company I would offer my sincere apologies that on this occasion you were unhappy with the response in store. I have spoken to the store manager this morning regarding this issue and your disappointment.
As a gesture of goodwill the manager has saved the toy and has stated that he will be happy to give the item to you free of charge on your next visit to store.
Thank you again for taking the time to contact us and wishing you all the very best.
Assuring you of the best attention at all times.
I shall be putting the £1.50 I expected to pay into a charity box to assuage my guilt
Interesting! Usually the 50% or 75% off marked price has been off the lowest price until more recently when our store seem to think that 'marked price' is the origional price, irrespective of any other price tickets on the items at our store too!
Just after Christmas I was keeping an eye on reductions and further reductions. The posters said something like 'christmas trees and decorations all 75% off' but some the things I would class as either a tree or decoration were not included, even though they were under the posters ans SELs so I put them back.
One day I happened to be there at the same time as a 'regional' looking manager type, and 'inocently' asked him if a certain thing was included or not, he said it should be, but checked and said it wasnt, we agreed that the signs were indeed misleading as the item was a 'decoration', and he promptly got staff to put the displays right, and offered me as many of the items as I wanted for 75% off (which was nice as I was buying them for our next Christmas fair at school;))
Misleading signs is my pet hate, currently a local camping shop has massive red posters stating 'closing down' and in tiny letters underneath it says 'type prices'0 -

I am lucky I have always had my own money, so will just go and order what I want need, my O/H says I'm too independent, I tell him to lump it or leave
Same here, if I want something I buy it and we actually still after 20 years pay half each for the shopping, so he loves mse because I've saved him an absolute fortune with the shopping, although I confess I may fiddle him sometimes:o:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Beware!!!! I used to have a freezer in an outside shed but on more than one occasion, during a very cold winter, the freezer defrosted and all the contents defrosted! I was told that if the temperature outside the freezer got to colder than the inside of the freezer then something happens and stops it freezing. Not sure if I've really explained that well??
Has anyone else heard of this happening?
If I thought I could have a freezer in a shed and it wouldn't defrost itself again then I'd try and talk my OH into getting an additional freezer.0 -
