Help DWP £1400 overpayment

Options
Hi,
I was claiming ESA, claim ended in April after I returned to work. DWP failed to close my claim. Althought I did not receive any fortnightly payments from April until now, I have just received £1400:j which takes me up to date. Do I have to return this to them or as it's their error do I keep it !! Advice wanted please. Thanks

  • Are you being serious? Return it, this is public money you are talking about retaining under false pretences.

It will be interesting to see if you post back here in 6 months when they ask the for money back.

They wont wait 2 years, they'll sue you for it long before that. LOL

The court costs will far outweigh any interest you get

I am so sorry you are not getting the support you wanted to abuse public money for your own gain.

Maybe I should just pay you my taxes instead and cut out the middle man.

Having worked for DWP, this is an official error, not fraud, not claimed in error. Their error, not mine !!
I have called them up, told them of the error, stopped the claim, but they failed to return my call !!
I am not going to chase them up to give them back money. !!!

Was the excessive use of exclamation marks a requirement of your previous employment? :p
