Hi, this is my first post and hope I'm in the right place! Basically what happened was my son (age 5) and I were in a private rented accommodation which was too big and far too expensive for me to keep, I was getting further and further into debt as each month went on. My cousin was planning on moving out of his council…

Just a wee update, have been in contact with shelter and citizens advice and both advised me that I am legally liable for the arrears however as the council did not make me aware of this at the time of signing the tenancy they are in the wrong. I have my lette for complaint written out and am visiting a local councillor tomorrow to try and get my complaint backed by them. Hopefully this gets me somewhere if not the next step will be the spso route. Thanks again everyone for their help I wouldn't have a had a clue without the answers in this thread.
