PO online saver account is currently paying 3.1% including the 12 month bonus. Please note this is a variable interest account and rate may drop further. I don't feel it is worth the hassle for +0.1% and I do not feel comfortable saving with the Bank of Ireland.
The one available now (Issue 6) is 3.01% inc bonus. See http://www.postoffice.co.uk/finance/savings-investments/online-saver
I have the older iss 5 paying 3.17% inc bonus. Access, supposedly instant for these accounts, isn't, as withdrawals take 2-3 business days.

don't forget there's no interest in Vantage above £5K per account

Issue 5 is still 3.17% AER, it's the Issue 6 thats plummeted (down to 3.01%)

But yes, like I said earlier, the difference is only marginal, and if you don't like BOI, then Vantage is good alternative if you don't mind the transfers each month.

Issue 5 is closed. The difference is miniscule and not worth the hassle of opening an account with the PO.

I agree, but I got mine before it closed, so its still valid for me, and I assume you had your vantage when the issue 5 was first available and being advertised on here, so it was an option then, but obviously not now (probably go for a Derbyshire now, but at 3.06%, no point to move if you get 3% already, unless you don't want the hassle any more)

Doesn't matter now anyway, you decided on several Vantage accounts and I decided on a combination of Vantage + PO Savings a/c.
  • The Sunday Times states that Lloyds is now paying 4% on balances of between £5000 and £6000 on its vantage accounts for 12 months - if you sign up before October 31. Has anyone seen anything about this? I can't find anything on the web site.

The annoying thing for those of us wanting to use the accounts as savings accounts is this criteria...
a minimum of two direct debits need to be set up on the account
I have 3 Vantage accounts but don't want the hassle of setting up 6 DDs.

Shame really since MBNA want to give me a £19K money transfer at 0% for a year for a 2% fee, so this deal would have made me a decent £200 profit on that!
