was just wondering what you all thought of the devolution debate.

do you feel better or worse off for having the national assembly?

as a student, im definately noticing the perks...free prescriptions up to the age of 25, assembly learning grants etc. these things have been a great help

Afraid to me it looks like an uneccessary layer of government with the usual freebie trips for the members. The trouble with the assembly is it is neither one thing or the other.

Total waste of space IMHO, and yet more politicians with their snouts in the trough

...by 2007 perscriptions should be free for all in wales, registered under a Welsh postcode though, not as it is now where anyone can come to wales and pick up a perscription for free if under 25. They buggered up there really, ended up costing us a heap of money!

Loads of benefits for parents, like crutches said, free ysgool feithrin/pre school and milk etc

    ;)

  • The health service and hospital waiting lists in Wales are a disgrace, along with the almost total collapse of NHS dentistry.

I'm over 25 and under 60 and don't yet see any of the benefits of a Welsh Assembly. I realise that I will get a bus pass at 60 and free prescriptions in a year or two but would far rather see a health service that we can be proud of.

I too am pretty much unaffected by the Assemblies actions, however I can see massive benefits for many in the community around me and in most cases count myself fortunate not to be in need of them, I still think the Assembly has made a major contribution to improving quality of life in Wales and in many cases closing the huge gaps in the difference between English and Welsh facilities, it's easy of us to miss the good the Assembly is doing just because it doesn't have a direct impact on us personally, that having been said my three item prescription which I fortunately collected on April 1st having missed the chemist day before was six pounds cheaper than it would have been, if for nothing else I am thankful and acknowledge that without the Assembly I would from April 1st be six pounds a month worse off.

Together we can make a difference.

Im not from wales, but i feel (and i am probably going to get shouted at for this) that they should just be a completely seperate government and i feel scotland should be the same. These countries wanted devolution but still take tax payers money from england. They get a lot of extras that we in England dont get but still take a load of money from whitehall.

    retreats to safe distance :D
