Assuming your Virgin BB is through a cable modem and router:-
a) If you can't get into the router config page the router may be faulty/incorrectly set, have you tried resetting it with the switch at the back?
b) If the router is working ok but still no internet this means the problem may be in the modem or the modem-router connection, also check if your modem requires any login procedure (don't know how it's done on cable). As you said earlier, a call to Virgin BB would be a good idea.
Edit:- can you plug the laptop directly into the modem?0 -

Yes I can plug straight into the router I can either use the lan cable or wireless. I will check to see if the router has a re-set switch.0 -

OK but do you have a separate modem into which the router is plugged. I assume this is how Virgin BB is supplied to your house. or is it connected to your BT phoneline?
Pls could you specify which router make / model # you are using.0 -

It means you have a connection to the router which is a start but you need to know if the router is connected to the BB. How you do this depends on the router.0 -

Is Virgin BB via phone and ADSL? I'd guess NTL is cable and DSL0 -

NTL is a cable connection I am not connected to a BT line as the phone is via cable as well.0 -

If BB uses phone line I think it will be ADSL regardless of whether it is a BT or cable phone line, but hopefully someone else can confirm. In that case you probably need a different router/modem0 -

You can test your internet connection by plugging the computer directly into the modem either by ethernet cable or perhaps a USB connection. It is important to establish that this works before plugging the router into your modem. Also Pls could you state what is the make/model of your router.0
