Ukcps parking notice charge

Yesterday I parked in a retail park in Leeds and left the car park on foot to return later with some friends. When I returned I had a parking notice charge stuck on my windscreen. The reason was 'leaving site'.
I understand this is because parking spaces are in high demand and it's to stop non users of the site..I was given the ticket within 10 minutes of leaving but returned to use the facilities later.
From reading the blogs, it's obvious that I should not pay as it's private land and unenforceable but I am annoyed that the signage was so poor. There were none in the parking bays, only on the entry and exits. When I looked at the sign later it said you were not allowed to leave the site, but it doesn't say how,i.e. on foot, or by car and for how!.Also, the sign reads
WARNING PRIVATE PROPERTY CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT.
IF YOU VISIT ELSEWHERE, BEFORE OR AFTER USING THE FACILITIES YOU ARE CONTRACTUALLY AGREEING TO PAY A FEE OF £100 DISCOUNTED TO £60 IF PAID WITHIN 14 DAYS.
It's a farce! Also, when such a condition is blatently unreasonable, why are the DVLA allowed to sell them my data, which, in itself, is outrageous. This sign is very menacing and uncompromising and some reassurance re my position will be gratefully received.
Many thanks

You should change your title to remove place name. Use advanced editing
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.

As advised previously, please edit out the location and when you parked, because Peter Haswell the office manager of UKCPS lurks here, and tries to identify people getting advice. The advice by the way is to ignore this. If you get private messages from someone who claims they will try and help with posts of below 300-400 its likely to be Haswell.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • why are the DVLA allowed to sell them my data, which, in itself, is outrageous. I think MSE should start a campaign to stop the DVLA selling our data!. After all, the DVLA will not even discuss any issues if you are not the licence holder, despite being willing to give key information to pass security checks, i.e. date of birth, tel.no. address etc.
Just read around some of the threads here, and you'll see that the DVLA are complicit in the scam, as they make money from it, and are unwilling to accept that the PPCs use underhand, dodgy methods, quoting BPA accreditation as proof of high moral and ethical standing :rotfl:!

Some people have started asking pointed questions and setting potential legal processes going in an attempt to skewer the DVLA, but (a) it'll take a long time and (b) is likely to be thwarted by bureacracy if nothing else.
  • Just had a thought! Who, and on what grounds is in breach of their Mickey Mouse contract, i.e. if the driver stayed on the site with others to use the facilities and the registered keeper left?

The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
  • Many thanks for that transcript. I am, slowly, beginning to piece these points of law/contract together and it's new territory for me and, I suspect, many other people. That's how the low life involved in this despicable business get away with it.
    Thanks again - much appreciated.

Left site??? its gets dafter by the day.
what next You agree to pay a parking charge of £85 if your car is not parked paralel in the bay?

Maybe we could have a mass visit to one of these retail parks, go to one of the shops and buy something, then all have a mass walk out
    From the Plain Language Commission:

"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"

I hope not, my parallel bay parking is very iffy at times.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Identify every shop on the retail park and write to their CEO's telling them that they will never see any more of your money until they kick the crooks out of their car parks.
