Date night

Board games & jigsaw puzzles can be easily picked up from charity shops fairly cheap if you have to stay in, don't sound like the most exciting things in the world but nice to have a chat over as its not to attention labouring.
A pack of cards as well - dirt cheap and hundreds of different game options. It can be as competative or not as you like.
Cards and board games are great if you have kids - you can put them to bed and still have your date night without spending much.0 -
Also with card/board games you have the option of 'naughty' versions too. Strip snap is a personal favourite lol.0

We do a few things:
1. Forage walk with the dog then come back and cook what we have together (usually mussels, sea lettuce, or toast some hazelnuts we've gathered)
2. "Carpet picnics" with silly munchies in front of the fire
3. Movie nights where I make hot dogs with steamed onions etc & OH makes popcorn
4. Runs in the car to watch the waves when it's stormy (take a flask of coffee/soup)
Best of luck OP XXXXXXX0 -
We only do date night once a month, but we do get time together at weekends. It might be worth finding free things to do so that your budget can extent for a bigger night out, like a meal out at somewhere a bit swish.
The time dh and i used to talk most was in the bath with a bottle of wine at the end of the day. We do not have that opportunity atm, as we do not have a working bath, but we are looking for the right one now as we really miss that time where we were relaxing and not rushing off for other things.0 -

A nice bottle of fizzy wine, probably prosecco or cava, always works for me. Makes me feel like it's a really romantic and special occasion. You do, IMO, need proper glasses for this (mine were £2.50 from ASDA but were in a half price sale - keep them in the box so it is easy for this to be portable, i.e. take for a walk or cycle ride).
Someone else mentioned a series and this is true, if you can both get into the same series, this does mean it's a real shared experience. We got into Downton Abbey - quite superficial period drama - but other series he has liked or I have liked but it can be hard to find common ground.
Sofa cinema, think they are love film now, can be a good option for series or films.
I think a walk takes some beating when the weather is nice.
If you do want to try some trips away, living social and KGB have some good deals that might suit.
Recommending books to one another if you have time apart but want to reconnect can work - it very much depends on whether you are readers and if so whether you like similiar books.
Candlelight dinner at home with something a bit special - last night I got slightly smoked salmon from the reduced section which we cooked together with some home grown new potatoes and veg - and we were both raving about how good it was. Steak can be something men like and also like to cook, maybe with chips?
Best of luck.0 -
It's not exactly a date, but if you occasionally have the daytime free, what about an afternoon in bed? Hormones such as oxytocin are released during sex and help with the bonding process. And the breaks in-between can be a good opportunity to chat as you are (hopefully) feeling happy and relaxed.0

I'm an avid eating out bargain hunter so join up for newsletters to Slug and Lettuce, I think you get a voucher to welcome you and apart from that every Monday is half price food there.
My other half and me went last week and had 2 meals, 2 drinks and it cost us £11.
They send you emails too with vouchers for 25% off.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
