Ours want to do tennis (£96 a term) so said no:eek:

Swimming is just around the corner so that is fine.....

The eldest wants to go to the gym as a member...... will look into that, it is just that it all adds up1

My youngest does after school art, sport and cookery until 3.45 and by then he has had enough and is not hankering for more so that is a bonus...

Victory you reminded me of myself wanting to do tennis lessons when in primary school. The teacher had asked me if I wanted to go to the LTA summer school lessons as I showed potential. I asked my Mum but she said no she couldn't afford it. I didn't question it and accepted her reason. I had the same thing told to me about dancing lessons. I know if they had been able to afford the lessons they would have done so gladly but I was the youngest of 4 and my mother was SAHM and my father self employed. The money wasn't alway there. Instead I went to Brownies which cost 10p per week and a majorette band, also 10p week. I loved both and being in the band meant I got to go to loads of carnivals and as the majority of the children were from similar home backgrounds to myself (i.e. council estate!) then the costumes cost was kept to the bare minimum and I think all my mother had to buy me was white pop socks and white gyms. The 10p per week subs covered coaches and uniform materials as they had free hall hire from the local school. Contrast this with dancing schools today. DD age 5 did a show and I had to buy 5 costumes at an average of £20 each, plus pay for extra lessons to rehearse for the show.
