How many other companies cover caravans though?

A few will tow the caravan if the car breaksdown, But wont touch the caravan if thats the problem.

The RAC will through the camping club.

    Seemed a nice chap.

Do they attend breakdowns with a rottweiler and a baseball bat these days?

I got stuck for 24 hours at the services during the flooding a few years ago (entrance and exit impassable). There was a couple there with RAC cover and a broken-down car, and there was an RAC van also stuck there. The lady asked if he could take a look at their car, just so they knew what was wrong with it, and whether it would need a tow home, or whether it just needed to dry out. He told her that he couldn't do anything without it being called in. The couple spent 6 hours on hold waiting to get through to RAC just so the man parked 10m from their car could walk over and look at it!

I understand that the call centre was very busy, and that breakdowns probably do need to be called in, but I couldn't understand why the RAC man couldn't call it in at some point, and save everyone a lot of hassle.

I was with another recovery service, and it took 4 days for my car to be recovered :rotfl: I got a letter apologising for the delay, and saying that it would not count towards my yearly breakdown allowance.

Strong and forceful marketing = aggessive. It is in the dictionary. Calling someone up daily, when they have been denied the right to do so, is aggresive marketing.

Ive been a member for many years and they have never once called me. I get a letter once a year about car insurance, I get my breakdown renewal and thats it.

Still doesnt explain Mikey Moos post?

Post above is annoying though, Inflexible systems are a nightmare. One gripe i have is they use an 0800 number which on my mobile network is not free.

So i would pay something like 14p a minute to call them.

My mistake. I was on the wrong thread so have deleted my post! I still don't like auto-renewal though.

An MSE member slates the RAC and tells us not to join them. Then another member slates the AA, another slates AutoAid, another slates Green Flag....

So who do I get breakdown cover from?

You should try the Softly spoken you dont call use and we dont call you company.

    They dont auto-renew either.

Im sorry sir your membership expired yesterday, Oh no we dont auto-renew.

I can rejoin you now, But this breakdown will have to be invoiced at the non member rate.

Thank you for calling though and have a nice day.

I always get a letter a good five weeks before my auto renewal explaining how great they are and how they only need to put my price up by...

The letter always include my new membership card. At this point I just call them and say thanks but no thanks- it really is simple.

I got my letter telling me how much it had gone up so called them to say I was not renewing as I could get it cheaper and they revised their price so I stayed with them.
Can't say that I rate any of them higher than one of the others as I've never had to wait longer than 30 minutes after breaking down for them to arrive, except for one company that used local garages rather than their own vans and the local garage couldn't find me because the call centre had mixed up the name of the village and the road name. After 2 hrs and 3 phone calls they gave me the number of the garage they were using and he arrived in 10 minutes after I gave him the correct address.
