scammed?

hello, today I received a strange call on my mobile from the "Lottery ..... (dont remember the exact end) asking for me and informing me that I entered a competition to win an ipod and they want to let me know that the competition is going to be this weekend. Then she put the phone down. I am worried now why they phoned me to say that??? I think this is a scam. I checked the number and it came as "private"... I am concerned they can call me know to say I won it.... What should I do if the call again? Thanks

I had something similar on my home phone yesterday. She said she was form a lottery and was I busy (yes of course I was!) and she said not to worry, she'd phone back another time.

I think it may have been from the peoples lottery (or similar), which after I'd entered a comp over the weekend, saw that they are spammer, once on their lists, difficult to get rid of.

She never phoned me back (yet), it was also a private number. I was worried that I'd missed a prize, but I guess not.

I got one of the Postcode Lottery today saying i'd entered an iPad competition. Tried to get me to sign up to their lottery so I told them bills come first and not to call again!

I also received a call from postcode lottery yestoday telling me that I entered an iPad competition and that they will be drawing the winner soon, she then questioned me why I don't use postcode lottery and if I would be intrested to join or not. I just said i'll consider it, didn't want her pulling me out of the draw if I said no!

I got a call from the postcode lottery on Sunday saying the same thing, and I asked to be removed from their contact list... then I got a call from them again on Monday! Can't get rid of them

So it's not just me... I was worried so I had to check my balance if not money were taken out of my balance!

I got a call from the postcode lottery and this smarmy South African sounding man was a real sales man.I tried to explain that I wasn't interested eventually he conceded that I wasn't going to sign up for it and he shouted something down the phone and ended the phone call.They are obviously on commission.

I've had a few - they say I've entered to win an iPad and at the same time try to get me to set up a direct debit to buy lattery tickets! I just hang up!

Think they just rung me, some woman said I entered a competition, couldn't hear her what as her office sounded noisey, then started waffling on about paying £2.50 a week to play the lottery, I said not interested, she kept asking why, said that's enough for a pint.
