An easy way to save 1GB (or whatever amount of RAM you have) or so is to disable hybernation if you never use it. It's always one of the first things I do after installing Windows.
Right click desktop, properties, screen saver, power, hibernate, uncheck "enable hybernation".0 -
If you right click on your recycle bin and look at properties, you'll see how much of your drive is set aside for the recycle bin - it may be way more than you need. I set my down from 10% to 1%.After posting about receiving an email to my MSE username/email from 'Money Expert' (note the use of ' '), I am now unable to post on MSE. Such is life.0

Looking at add/remove progs by size I have 5 x J2SE Runtime Environment 5 updates. Nos, 3, 6, 9, 10, & 11. There are all almost 120.00 MB each, do I need them all? Just working my way through the list, but would appreciate any advice on J2SE updates, and also any further suggestions to get some space back.
As Chippy Minton says above you don't need them all and can uninstall the earlier ones. If I remember correctly, I think even after uninstall I found that their folders were still there in the Program Files Java folder, so I deleted them
I was slightly surprised when you mentioned 1.5.0.11, as I installed 1.6.0.0 a while ago, and now the update 11 seems to be newer than that so they seem to have both 5 and 6 concurrent. I don't know what the difference is, and whether this is better, but I did find that 6 didn't like being installed over 5, so instead I uninstalled before installing the new one.
And I'd echo the Recycle Bin being cut down a lot, and System Restore a bit
There are some ideas to delete uninstall backup files for SP1 and SP2 and updates, because you'll never remove them, together with some driver cache folders as well, but I haven't dared or got round to this yet0
