Toilet problem

Toilet flushes okay but does not take take paper etc away. Usually takes about 4 or 5 flushes to clear. I have used a plunger and also tried a bucket of water which drains straight away. So I assume the toilet is not blocked. Checked the ballcock and that seems okay. Mind you the toilet has been in for a good number of years.

Are you having to wait for it to refill, or are you meaning you have to push the handle "4 or 5" times in quick succession to get it to work?

Syphon or syphon diaphragm needs changing. It's also possible that the WC bowl waterways are scaled up.

Depending on the state of the WC, not a job I would recommend a DIYer to start unless very confident and you have the correct tools.

    Hi BobProperty
Only have to flush the handle once for it to refill. Husband not DIYer EliteHeat. Thanks

Suspect option B then, the waterways are getting scaled up. Where in the country are you (since it's not a problem where I am but I'm guessing Eliteheat is used to seeing and dealing with it)?

I don't know because we don't have the problem round here. That's why I was hoping EliteHeat would reply as they do have hard water in his area. Check your water hardness (approximately) here:

Well thats a new 1 on me, never heard of or seen the bowl waterways scaled up.

It will either be 1 of 3 things

1- toilet could be blocked down the line
    2- Soil pipe not venting
3- Part of the plastic syphon disc has torn and made is way into the waterways.

imo- option 3 is more likely.
A thankyou is payment enough .
