Bought car from dealer, V5 not signed

I bought car 3 weeks ago - road tax runs out today. Dealer 'forgot' to send in V5 to DVLA so I picked it up from him today (old version). He took the car in p/x from the registered keeper, whose name is still in Section A, but neither of them has signed the Declaration. My details are in the New Keeper box however. I need…

well what I'm getting at is, the v5 processing/handover/whater is no long proof of sale. You have to sign other documents for proof of purchase/sale.

Btw there is a handover of v5, you fill out the counterpart and keep your copy. Not the same as before, but there is a handover.
