Good old days of Ebay.... long gone!!

An Ebay member since 2000. See lots of discrepancies these days. Why can't anyone just simply list an item for sale without idiot/scammer buyers claiming this and that wrong/not received...yawn yawn. I NEVER EVER had any problem whatsoever when I started buying/selling until recently. Memo to Ebay (if you want to keep your customers)..let sellers again be able to leave feedback to buyers ...problem solved.

I have to disagree.
I`m personally glad i can leave factual f/b or dispute an item snad without the threat of retalitory negs. The same goes for inr`s
In no other selling forum,be it the high street or online does the seller give public ratings to their buyers for all to see.and i see no reason why on ebay its needed.0 -

I agree, I don't see my buyers feedback as I cannot sit and monitor my bidders on a minute by minute basis, so negs are not of much use to me.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Let's say I was a buyer with a 100 percent negative feedback. I bid on your item in the last 10 seconds, as I always do. What possible difference would my feedback make to you?0

What I'm getting at is...sell (2nd hand) item for 99p, £1, £2, £5 whatever its bid to....buyers are so fussy and expect brand new at 2nd hand price. And make any excuse to return, item not as described blah blah etc..This never used to happen before. Surely people have seen the changes in Ebay selling or am I just stupid!0

Agree with the others. eBay should not really have invented buyer feedback - it has only damaged sellers' views of their buyers' obligations.
On Amazon there is no such thing as buyer feedback and the site is better off for it."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

maybe not but we are talking about different things here - individuals against companies. for large sellers who make it a business maybe they dont have time to check feedback but I am like the op, i very rarely sell anything on ebay now. a lot of my friends are the same.
its now geared all to large volumes and companies.
i have been scammed by overseas and home buyers with zero help from paypal and ebay, if people scam again and again why should they be protected?
Stores can ban people for causing problems but as long as ebay get the commission they dont care what happens and let scammers continue.2023 wins - zilch, nada, big fat duck. quack quack,0 -

If you are getting a lot of SNAD claims then maybe you might want to check just how accurately you are describing your goods. If in doubt it pays to under sell your items, rather thna try and gloss over any problems or damage they might have.
I sell on both business and private accounts and have not had a SNAD claim for years (I bet I'll get one tomorrow now!)
I think what has changed is that buyers expect to get the same sort of treatment from private sellers as they do from a business and won't accept anything that isn't exactly as stated in auction.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Bluffer seems to know the problems too...thankyou. eBay was supposed to be an 'online boot sale' but seems to have gone beyond that. Bring back Yahoo Auctions which eBay bought and closed down because they couldn't handle the competition.0

No store knows its going to be ripped off before hand,so only bans after the event. Likewise for private sellers, its why theres a block list..maybe not but we are talking about different things here - individuals against companies. for large sellers who make it a business maybe they dont have time to check feedback but I am like the op, i very rarely sell anything on ebay now. a lot of my friends are the same.

You say people scam time and time again? Unless theres positive proof you can`t know for sure.Too many times i see sellers crying scammer because someone has claimed an inr for example without any proof whatsoever. Yes there are scammers and those proven to be so should be dealt with .
But also anyone signing up to ebay should be fully aware of what obligations they have before selling, after all they do agree to abide by ebays t&cs.0 -

the lack of buyer feed back does not mean that ebay doesn't keep a record of a buyer's history, if it was reported ebay will keep a record of it.0
