Just caught up with your diary and didn't want to read and run, it is possible to still OP when you have babies:) We have been OPing for about 4 years now and have a little girl who arrived about 18months ago, hasn't stopped us wanting to be MF, just have to be a bit inventive, like earning money through other sources and using that to OP. Good luck, i'm subscribing, so keep us updated x0

Thank you for your kind replies.
Yes we are with NW, fixed the monthly payments and its for 5 yearsConsidering the current rates, perhaps we should have chosen a shorter term fix rate, but hind-sight is a wonderful thing...
One of the best things compared with the other mortgage, is being able to see it online. I agree, i JUST love this feature.
Mind you seeing that amount of interest charged (over £2k since we took the mortgage 6 months ago), is just scarry
On the good side with the £3k overpayments made, the daily interest started at £12.38, and its now just over £12 / day. :money:
I took the measurement of the outdoor space we have and its massive. The current garage / outbuilding is approx 6.5x4.2m, with a current outside area of an extra 5x4.2m; total area of 11.5x4.2m. That is one large potential garden, so many options... :rotfl:So how about giving me some WACKY ideas of what I can do with this large area ?????

Thanks Ecoelle,
If you can OP and have little ones, I am sure so can we. Fingers crossed.
If you had a pre-pregnant financial tip, what would it be?
M0 -
Pre Pregnant financial tip...you don't need half the stuff they try and sell you!
Also, if you can, don't spend your child benefit money, you've managed this long without it so maybe you can continue to last without it, £20.30 a week = £1055.60 per year, not including any increase or interest you could earn on it, that's... £19000.80 by their 18th birthday, you could then let them use it towards a university placement/wedding/house/travel...whatever they want:)0 -
Hello! I'm having a little lurk about the threads lol
Ecoelle that is exactly our plan with mini-Kube when he makes his appearance - save up his child benefit separately - as we don't have it now, theory suggests we won't miss it... :rotfl:

Excellent idea Ecoelle, will make a note of that one.
Okay made the £100 SO OP, and then whoopsied and did it again, so a total of £200 has been paid.
Umm, really didnt want to have done that, but never mind, think of the interest saved. Just hope we have enough for all the windows etc.
Went to DunMill to swop the bedding we got for Christmas (got double instead of kingsize) and came out with x2 bedroom curtains and extra bedding due to a sale happening... Umm lets see if I can return some of it, as I spent £85 - eek.
Time to measureup, and cya later.

Evening All
Next week we (will hopefully) be receiving the new windows etc.
That will mean an extra £1600 to be paid out in January (plus c£500 for monthly stuff, Mortgage & OP has already been paid) = eek, talk about wrong time of year, especially as I really want to go after Xmas sales and see what fab bargains I can pick up :P
And in February the outstanding balance of £750 for the patio doors.
And also, with it being the 1st week our loving students are back, and they are just playing up; I could xyz (in the most politest of ways)...
I KNOW it will be worth it, but at the moment, it just feels blooming tough. Does anyone have any words of cheerfulness? I sure could use them.

WOOT, they have confirmed they are fitting them tomorrow. Two days early
Come to me: lower heating bills!
Come to me: not have to get up to let the cats in / out of the patio doors
Come to me: get up 30mins earlier than I would normally be for their arrival!
Come to me: Recycling Queen - the front door for fire wood, and the lock for future use
And finally
Come to me: feeling skint for months to come :P

Hope it's as exciting as you're expecting it to be :rotfl:.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
