Exactly. Especially if it is a website configurator ... if it's on the website to be picked then it's a configuration of standard options, not custom and certainly not personalised.

Yes and no However the Sony rep I spoke to did state that once a system goes into production the order can no longer be cancelled (which is contradicted by their Outlet site which lists user-configured laptops that have clearly been cancelled by the original customer).

It's taking about twice as long as I was told for the laptop to be built and delivered (should have had it this week on the original 2-3 week lead time), so I may try calling and use the "disgruntled customer" approach to wangle the additional battery I'm more interested in getting a laptop sooner rather than later, so don't want to cancel and re-order... it's taking long enough as it is.
