Do you think its worth me ringing mobiles.co.uk?

Options
Hi, Last wednesday I ordered a Samsung Galaxy S3 on contract with a cashback deal through mobiles.co.uk. At the time I spent some time sifting through the various contracts available and this was the best deal available. When I ordered it on wednesday and when I paid and on the confirmation email it said I would get my new phone delivered the next day (Thurs 26) by royal mail special delivery.

On the thursday I waited but no delivery. I was going to ring on the friday morning to see what was happening, but the phone turned up that morning so I didn't bother.

Today I noticed they are now promoting a better deal. Same phone, same network, allowance, bill price etc. but the cash back is now slightly higher. (I got 5 months 1/2 price, but the offer is now 3 months free).

If I were to ring them and explain how the delivery was late (my emails show they dispatched late and wasn't a royal mail delay), do you think I might be able to get the new cashback rate.

If anyone has had any similar experiences, how did you get on?

I assume you are within your 7 days returns so call returns and tell them you plan to return it and take the new deal

Then sense should prevail and they will give you the new one instead

It wouldn't be the same cashback deal. The deal at the point of sale can be copied and you can make sure you understand it. Subsequent communications from this company are often misleading and sometimes downright wrong - I would want written confirmation of a replacement deal before taking action, which is tight with only 7 days to play with.

Dealing with CPW does have certain intricacies. They restrict the number of contracts someone can order within a certain space of time. Two in a month exceeds their usual quota by one. Sending it back under the 7 day rule won't apply if the sim has been put into the phone and switched on.

Sending it back is a right if unused - but you may not get a replacement order for a while. Talking with them and explaining what you plan to do might produce a decent response; I have actually done that on occassion (including today actually) though it's rare for me and I generally avoid unwritten communication.

There's a deal on their website right now which is totally different if you click through to order it, for example. If you don't take care you can get tripped up.

  • Thanks for your replies, I might give them a ring on the off chance, butrealistically it's probably not worth it. It works out I would have saved £10on the new deal, but luckily I went via topcashback.co.uk and go an extra £30back there. So I suppose I'm still £20 up on the new deal.

It was inevitable the prices would get cheaper eventually, I just wasn'texpecting it to be that quick.
