The elephants have arrived! A herd of 58 elephant sculptures and 72 elephant calves have descend on Sheffield for the biggest public art event the city has ever seen!
The elephant sculptures, each uniquely decorated by artists, have descended on Sheffield’s parks and open spaces, creating one of the biggest mass participation arts events the city has ever seen. Can you find them all?
This exciting initiative is brought to you by The Children’s Hospital Charity and Wild in Art, uniting businesses, communities, artists and schools, leaving a lasting legacy for the city.
Herd of Sheffield: follow the trail, collect points with our Herd of Sheffield app and try to see as many of the sculptures as possible whilst they are out and about in the city til 5th October 2016.

Apologies for any duplication as I haven't read the rest of the thread.
DD went to London yesterday (offer on train fares with South West trains) and DGD1 (teenager) enjoyed this exhibition of Harry Potter stuff:

They also noticed this was on but didn't have time to fit it all in.

Where we live (Southampton) there's a weekly guided walk for children in the school holidays about the history of the city and similar to Horrible Histories. It's £5 for adults and 2 children free. Maybe there's something similar either guided or self guided in your area.

Free football coaching from The Football Association (F.A.)
My daughter has attended these sessions for a while, it is a great way for them to understand football and improve at her own speed, whilst having plenty of fun.
Applies Nationwide just type FA Skills into google and click on FA skills website then find your nearest location.
No cost to attend sessions, session durations vary from region to region but their is no price. All girls only sessions are free and can attend as many as you like in the holidays. Girls of all abilities are welcomeNo brainer if you ask me.

There is the Bushcraft For Kids Adventure Challenge. Ìt is free
You download the form which is a list of activities that are free and can mainly be done at home in the garden.
Some tasks are fun silly tasks others are more challenging and could be done as family activities
The children can try doing as many adventure challenges as they can. Or you can enter into a free competition where there are random spot prizes.
There are loads of other free activities all aimed at encouraging children and families to get outdoors and learn and enjoy nature
My daughter enjoys most of the stuff on the site.
Being new I can't post the url but they can be found at bushcraft4kids on their website and on Facebook. I hope it is usefully to others over the summer holidays0 -

The RSPB have an all year round free nature based awards scheme called Wild Challenge. Basically you sign up on line, it's pretty simple, then you complete all sorts of challenges. For example mini beast hunts, flower spotting etc... all the resources like ID charts are free to download. When you done 6 activities you upload photos as proof and then your children get a free certificate and stickers. There's a bronze, silver and gold award. My kids have already got their bronze award and they loved doing it. It has certainly kept them busy, we're planning to do silver over the summer. If you google rspb wild challenge you'll find it0
