If £100 is return for the two of you I would snap their hands off.

Be aware Iceland is very expensive once you are there.

apparently all mums go to iceland
:D The glass is always half full, no exceptions !!:D
  • Seriosuly, I have never been to Iceland but a friend of mine was there last year and was gobsmacked at how expensive everything was.

If its moneysaving you are after then Iceland is not the place!

I've flown to Keflavik Airport on Icelandair and I certainly agree that it's not a cheap place to visit.

Icelandair fly from Glasgow I believe although, to be honest, it might be better value combining the trip with one to New York or Boston (as the flight will cost almost as much from the UK to KEF as from the UK to NYC or BOS via KEF).

You can also try, from London, flying BA or Iceland Express (a supposed budget airline from London Stansted to Keflavik). However, they're usually fairly expensive too.

If I were you, I'd try a combination of Iceland Express and Ryanair (that way you can go from Scotland to France or vice versa via. London Stansted)

thanks guys - am rapidly going off iceland, too expensive. may try sweden instead. only went abroad for first time last year, and just trying to build confidence up before long haul. also, have six month old who i am nervous about taking away (sister has offered to mind her, but it will be a long two weeks without her!) and am looking for advice re taking an infant abroad. eg. flights or eurostar? if taking bubs, may only visit france, as will have friend there to help. sorry for the rambling, but have my own health issues and need to plan as much as poss!

Sweden is the same, very expensive. Avoid Scandinavia if you want a cheap holiday.

a friend of mine was there last year and was gobsmacked at how expensive everything was.

    Second hand info again !

If you want a cheap holiday go to the Costa del Plonk, if you want a trip to an amazing place go to to Iceland. It is magnificent !
It certainly isn't cheap, but to be honest I wasn't "gobsmacked" at the prices - it wasn't as expensive as I had heard (second hand info again !). If you want to get p***** on beer at £4 a small bottle, it's expensive; if you a bottle with your dinner, it's not.

We got a package with Icelandair; flights, hotel + airport transport at a very good price.
    WILL be going again !

There was another thread on Iceland only a few weeks ago, do a search.

My Mum's been to Iceland...apparently they often have BOGOFs. Sorry couldn't resist!

Seriously though, my friend has been to Iceland and she said it's amazing but quite expensive, especially alcohol.
