Thomas Cook card vs Fair FX vs Travelex Cash Passport Globe

MSE claims the FairFX card is the best, but is it any different to the Thomas Cook one when needing USD ONLY for transactions? The exchange rates given are also pretty much the same too.

The only difference I can see is ATM fees, but I don't plan on withdrawing anyway...

There is no loading fee on the Thomas Cook one, whereas there is on the Travelex one. This goes against everything MSE says, but I know I am missing something somewhere...I just dont know what!

You have it all wrong, the Cash Passport Globe is by far the best. If you don't plan on withdrawing cash, then the FairFx Anywhere.

The thing that you are missing is that you are simply creating conditions that don't actually exist.

Too late for FairFX which I would rather have, so I'll plump for the Travelex CPG. Thanks.

But best of all for your usage is the Kalixa card via TopCashBack funded via Bank Transfer.

The Moneysavingexpert prepaid card advice is just rubbish.

Is it that inconceivable that I'll not be making any withdrawals?

Also, I'm leaving on Tuesday, so I doubt I'll have enough time to wait for the Kalixa card...do you know if it can be picked up anywhere?

Kalixa can't be picked up, so the CPG is the one for you if the pickup locations are convenient.

The MSE travel card advice is actually very poor. I and others have emailed MSE and they haven't changed the article.

The Metro Bank DC takes around an hour. I know that you know, but for others who don't, it could confuse.

My Metro Bank card took around 20-30 mins to get including bagging up the doggy treats. Walked in with passport -walked out with account and debit card etc.

This of course presumes the OP lives near/ can easily get to one of their branches in London.
If they can't then it will not take 20 minutes or 1 hour.

The Halifax Credit Card in my own experience took around 6 weeks from application to having both card and pin. Not quick at all.

A bit of a pointless statement, don't you think?

The point is how long it takes to get a card. It certainly isn't weeks, regardless of whether they live within the M25 or not.
Even if they lived in Scotland, but happened to be visiting London, it would still take an hour or less.
The fact is that you wrote that it takes weeks, when it doesn't.
