Sanatnder aren't as bad as people make-out. They were more than happy to send (without request) 2 new direct debit cards for my business accounts. Pity I'd closed both accounts 3 years previously.

Just had to deal with a rouge payment on my Nationwide account. Took less than 10 minutes to cancel the rouge DD and set-up a reclaim.

  • Can you have 2, 1-2-3 current accounts?!

Branch say yes, just got to pay £500 in per month and have 2 direct debits.

Phone helpdesk say no, only 1 per customer!

the branch are correct, however the funding on both must come from external sources.
  • But two 123 accounts presumably means two £2 monthly fees.

...and potentially less interest because you probably wouldn't make the top rate on both accounts.

I am usually a horder of current accounts, but can't see the point of multiple 123's myself. Just one of them is a super choice for anyone with lots of qualifying DDs and/or a Santander mortgage, and/or anyone looking for some half-decent interest.

I suppose if you have 40K of spare change, then having two accounts would be better, as you only receive interest on the first 20K. Its one of the few accounts now offering 3%.

True - - though after the non-negotiable £24 charge it would only be 2.85% AER (assuming you can maintain your balance as close as possible to £20K all the time). OTH, if you manage to blag the £45 via Quidco, it might turn into more than 3% AER for a year.............
