Anyone used Expedia??

We are planning a trip to see friends in Germany in October, and have been looking at flight prices online.
Lufthansa seemed to be the cheapest, until a colleague suggested looking on skyscanner. We looked, and the same flights we could book through Lufthansa direct were over £50 cheaper if we booked through Expedia.
I have heard of them, but have no other details, and wondered if anyone out there has used them of know how they can offer the same flights cheaper
Thanks

They are reputable enough. Like any company you get the occasional tale of woe. I've only used them for hotel bookings - no problems.
Make sure that their fare includes everything that the LH one does and is actually available.0 -
Yes - Fine for flights and I've used them many times over quite a few years. Just be meticulous about your details when booking as their CS is rubbish and they are unlikely to break any sweat sorting it out.
For accomodation in Germany, I've always found Booking .com gave me the best prices if that's any help.0 -
I've booked flights only (their fares were cheaper than Delta direct) and packages through Expedia and found no problems on both occasions. Call centre was efficient and friendly enough.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I've often used expedia as their prices are sometimes cheaper than booking direct with the airline. I've also used nectar points to part pay on certain fares too making it cheaper still .
Never had any issues with them at all.
I usually use https://www.kayak.co.uk for fares rather than sky scanner as I have found it sometimes has offers that skyscanner doesn't and I prefer the layout of the site.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I've often used Expedia to book flights without any issues.
I have had an issue with a hotel booking which was cancelled and I didn't find out until I tried to book in that night at 18:00 in Delft, Netherlands. It was a horrible experience and Expedia's after-care was even worse (I booked the hotel more than a month in advance and ended up having to stay in a hostel as it was the only place which still had rooms available in the area!).
I would book flights with them any time, because I've had no issues, but I would be super-careful with hotel bookings as there is nothing protecting you as a customer from cancellations.
(Expedia is part of the same group which owns hotels.com and Tripadvisor, so reputable enough I think).0 -
And then the following post appeared as I typed that: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4099525
Be wary, but I wouldn't avoid them, just know what you are doing (it's probably the same risk as booking with the airline themselves).0 -
I've used them loads for flights, hotels and flight and hotel combined trips. I normally use them if they're cheaper than booking direct with the airline.
I used them twice last month. Once for flights with Asiana as Asiana's website would only allow me to book flights via London (I was going HK to Seoul) and had no problem, was still able to check in online and choose seats. The other was for a hotel in Macau as the hotels own website wouldn't work on an iPad. I only booked it the day before I stayed so was worried the hotel wouldn't have the booking but it was fine too.0 -
In my experience, Expedia is a good search engine. However, once you have found specific flights at a good fare, if you look for exactly those flights (same departure time and everything) on the airline's own web site, the fare there is the same or lower. Remember that as well as the fare there is a charge to Expedia itself of a few pounds (perhaps five).0

When I travel on business I either use Opodo, Expedia or and ebookers.
I've never had an issue with any of them.0 -
Expedia are fine. And are reputable enough to trust. I would also try kayak.com. I managed to get very cheap holidays from these guys. What is great is the paying is completed whilst still using the Kayak site. Rather than leaving Kayak and going to the companies site. Trust me this simplifies everything.'Never forget that only dead fish swim with the stream.'
