.......why do I even bother asking on here for help?
regardless of the terms used, I think some should read back through the comments in response to the actual situation which took place.
I was following procedure, he wasn't. Skin color became a factor when the team leader favored him and the discussion was pointed towards the other person. and before the teamleader had even spoken to the other operator, I was already at fault without even know what had happened. Sorry, but racial discrimination works both ways!!! - I got the blame because of the other person's skin color, the superior obviously felt I had to take the blame due to the possibility of racial discrimination based threat's/comments being made against himself! so pointed the problems at me. Despite me and the other witness's following the correct procedure's.
Some of the comments posted in response are also age discrimnating again'st myself. Why is it acceptable for someone of an older age to use a certain term, but not me? I will make no appologies for who I am nor the background I've had, I've worked with the elderly and from my experiences, calling someone of a dark skin complexion black is frowned upon!
so... taking that into consideration, people assuming i'm a racist because I may/may not have passed a racial term (it's only racial if it is received or sent in an offensive way) to which it was never intented to be received or sent in such a manner.
People have also replied with very narrow minded negative views about myself, without "first" reading the entire thread that was previously posted here. (don't judge if you can't be bothered to fully understand!)
if you cannot offer help as first requested and only have a negative response, maybe the post shouldn't be made ( I don't use only this forum but many others for regarding various things) regardless of how anything or anyone is described. there is a correct way of showing somebody the correct way and there's also a wrong way of correcting someone i.e here I just feel as though the vast majority have jumped down my throat. Making me feel as though I have no right to leave the house! as I may end up saying the wrong thing despite the way it was supposed to be intended.
think... what was the actual situation?
now look at your response.
how did YOU help answer or correct the situation?
or
was it more of a flooding of attacks on relating to the same term? if 50 people had responded, it only takes one person to kindly have said "the correct term is "black" by the way just so you know... that's all it would have took, there was never any need to take it 2 pages out of context all relating to the same thing hijacking the thread (spamming!) with pointless views.
so... out of all the comments posted, less than a hand full were actually in relation to the first question posted.
anyway... you can all go hijack someone else's thread and make someone else's day a completely missery. I won't be coming back to ask for help here again.

what does him being 'coloured' have to do with it?
you sound like the most sensitive warehouse worker ive ever met0 -
Did none of the witnesses come forward?....not that it would make much difference probably as companies are afraid now in case they are brought to task re any kind of remarks eg racism, ageism, homophobic etc so won't say anything to anyone they think will accuse them of bigotry or whatever.
It's very difficult these days and it's happening more and more.
Try and do your best. You are obviously aware of health and safety so I would make that my main guide, and if you are taking too long to get past someone let the person behind you report what they have seen.
Good Luck:hello: Never say Never :smileyhea0 -
Stopped reading after the "coloured gentleman", no need for that and has painted a picture of you0

No, you do need to read on after "coloured gentleman" to see if the fact that he was not white was in any way relevant eg if said "coloured gentleman" made an allegation of racism. It could just be relevant. If you don't read through, you do make the mistake of judging a book by its coverStopped reading after the "coloured gentleman", no need for that and has painted a picture of you
However, on reading through, it is just a superfluous description and I agree it says more about OP than about said "coloured gentleman".Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
In the first incident could you not have called out "any chance of getting past please mate" instead of all the carry on that happened instead?0

Did exactly the same hoping that the reason for the description was going to be relevant.Data protection is there for you, not for companies to hide behind0 -
If those trucks are like cars then it's up to the driver to not move until the way is clear, same if the car in front slams on their breaks and the car behind goes into the back of the car in front, it's the back car's fault.
Without knowing the rules on driving such a ruck, then to me I would think it's the same, you need to be 100% sure the way is clear, maybe unfair when some sod tries to squeeze past but your the one with the machine that could kill someone.
The team leader should have waited for things to calm down before asking you two to shake hands, if at all, I think it was just daft, you are both adults and it is up to you if you choose to make up, I think you would, you sound like a decent guy and would have been happy to shake his hand later or at least not to hold any bad feelings.
Welcome to the world of work mate, they give you targets that are next to impossible to reach even without a load of rules and regulations to follow, impossible if you follow them to the letter, so your knackered if you follow them as the targets don't get reached, reach the target and they turn a blind eye to the rules not being followed as they know you have to to get the job done but as soon as a rule is broke and they have to act as someone got hurt etc then they play dumb and say you should be able to do both and it's your fault for being slow, been there done that, either look for a new job, train for something else or let it go over your head.0 -
With you being surrounded by hostile coloured gents with the ability to materialise instantaneously in a dangerous place where you have just looked, you will no doubt be scouring the aisles of the JC to get a new job.0

the remark of "coloured gent" - regardless of colour, there's a situation here, how do you give a description of somebody, you don't know?!! in this day and age, colour's a description. (i would say, Jamaican, but I don't know that!) As I'm sure he would give a description of "white!"...
as said, I'm not the only one who is becoming frustrated, and it's only occuring with certain coloured gent's.
as said, the colour isn't an issue, the simple fact to that is, "how would he have described me?".....
How about just "man"?!
Bloke/muppet/idiot/chap/d!ckhead/w@nker/t0sser also work and convey a picture without need to refer to colour.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

to be fair I think the OP was saying that he felt he was listened to less and treated worse because the other guy was black, so therefore this guys colour is relevant.0
