Credit Card for Holiday

I need a credit card for hiring a car on holiday. My problem is i have shyed away from credit having been burnt before, any recommendations? Need a credit limit of approx. £1200 basically as a deposit not really interested in actual credit. Help needed as go in a fortnight!!!

perhaps i should have added where am i mostly likely to be accepted. i know its difficult but want to avvoid the rejection spiral:D

Get 10% cashback most of the time through topcashback on car rental, so it's certainly cheaper to book in advance.

in contrast to the unhelpful answers above you should look at the Post Office credit card (provided by bank of Ireland) or the Halifax Clarity Credit Card - neither of these charge forex fees and are accepted world wide - however neither are interest free s you may wish to have a 0% balance transfer card lined up to shift any spending once you return home
