Yes they do credit checks, the scoring maybe less than for say a mortgage though.

Tesco Mobile might be your answer.

  • 30 day rolling sim only deals may be the way to go, TBH (there are still some great deals out there). You can pick up a superb smartphone for as little as £100 these days (Huawei Ascend G300 is imo the best one).

I stumbled across this earlier, but found something pretty exciting.

A friend of mine pointed me in the direction of shebang. It is a new network that has recently launched from what I can find out. I got declined recently by Vodafone, and he said to give this a go.

Anyway, I filled out the application at lunch and within 30 minutes I had someone call me. I applied for a HTC One V on a super 600 which was £30 and came with 600 minutes, 3000 texts and a gig of data. The person who called me said I couldn't have the phone because of my credit score.

BUT! After 4 months of paying my bill, he said I that as-long as I pay my bill each month, I'm allowed to have the handset. So I've took out the 1 month sim contract and going to give it a go. Hope this helps
