    Firstly well said.

Second I am so sorry you are having to go through your life like this. It sounds horrendous and so my best of wishes. At least I lived most of my life in a reasonable state of health but just in latter years my legs failing me and needing my wife to help with dressing & bathing, etc.

    Thank you :)

It's frustrating knowing you still have the facility to do things but you just can't. It's like you are being physically restrained by someone or something other than your body. It is hard as you probably know but as the phrase goes, you adapt or die.....of self pity. I chose the former because I'm not one for depression, my brain just isn't that way inclined:)

Here in Devon via Exeter Mobility Centre electric wheelchairs, or wheelchair with power packs, are issued. My son works elsewhere in Social Services and confirms it varies around the country.

Same thing in COVENTRY. I had to be referred by my GP to wheelchair services. Wheelchairs in general used to be given out by OT's but it changed not too long ago I don't think. They had a variety of motorised wheelchairs on the NHS too.

Thanks peksy86 for your helpful posts and insights as to how 'it' affects you. Adapt is good & in my case I accommodate 'it' - well try to unless I have a bad day

I thought I should update my OP as it may give support to those who have found themselves in a similar position. I did get an NHS wheelchair issued with powerpack which has made a considerable difference to my life. My wife's condition has worsened so without this help I undoubtedly would have been stuck in the house an awful lot more.

So got there in the end but 'jumping through hoops' comes to mind :j
