Bye bye Vodafone- who would you recommend?

In a nutshell after years of being with Vodafone and countless little niggles, I've finally had enough!

3 weeks ago 1 of my 3 contracts with voda had expired, called to see why it had ended as I thought I still had a week or so before it ended, advisor I spoke to offered me a good deal if I restored my contract, stupidly agreed and requested he put me through to the relevant department to confirm the deal, he stated this was only possible once I agreed to restore (can you see where it's going?), so I agreed. He then transferred me to the relevant department who stated the said deal could not be offered, I obviously kicked off, then spoke to a manger who said the conversation would have to be listened in to and if the said deal was offered it would have to honoured, the listening in of the call would take UPTO 32 hours.

2 weeks later still no response, called and again messed about with misinformation and conflicting advice so again spoke to a manager who informed me the request to listen into the call had not been made but she would ensure it happens this time round and would take UPTO 32 hours.

1 week later (3 weeks in total) no response, spent over 4 hours trying to get hold of a manger to resolve the issue, either they werent available or I missed their call back (can't take calls at work) as they did not call back at the agreed times! Finally spoke to a manger who told me that they would NOT honour the deal, even though 2 previous mangers said once the call was listened into they would have to honour it, he was very rude and abrupt and stated I wanted a quick resolution so that's what I had been given!!!

He was very flippant and rude and continuously spoke over me and would not let me get my point a cross, after stating I wanted to escalte the matter with customer services I ended the call, he then called me back after a few minutes didn't once apologise but changed his tone and stated that the call would be listened into and a decision made whether to honour the initial offer made to me in the first instance, but it would take upto 5 days for the call to be listened into and potentially 3 days for a decision to be made!!! THAT'S 8 DAYS ON TOP OF THE 3 WEEKS I'VE ALREADY HAD TO WAIT!!

I have been a customer for over 4 years and have 3 contracts with them, and initially upon joining them referred over 11 people (to be fair it was a good deal at the time!), but needless to say I have requested my PAC code and given notice on the other 2 contracts!

Throughout my time with them there has always been issues, customers service is hit and miss, 70% miss I'd say, only reason I've stayed with the this long is convenience!

Not any more though, I'm off but who would you recommend in terms of good customer service, reception and fair pricing?

Thanks in advance.

They're all the same in terms of customer service in my opinion, just depends who you get when you ring up. If you want UK call centres, Tesco Mobile are your only option as far as I know.

Reception depends on where you are more than anything, OFCOM's website shows you where all the masts are and you can check each networks coverage maps as well.

Fair pricing depends on how much minutes, texts and data you need and how much you're willing to pay each month.

Reception is the most important thing.

I flipped at Voda on a few issues, went over to Orange, and don't have signal in the office now (although my fault, not theres).

Orange are all UK-based, and I've managed to talk a deal with them if they were to have my custom. £5 home phone/internet (and unlimited) and a contract that suits needs perfectly!

I agree with your first point. Absolutely.

Regrettably, you are incorrect with your 2nd point, as my recent conversations with the Indian call centres show.

First thing i would do is ask friends and family that live close to you or get some free Sims from different networks and try them before you get another contract just to see what the signals like you can't always go with what the networks say about signal even when you look on there maps.

As for custom service it is very hit and miss with all like said on here.

Have you tried the comparison site that analyses your current bill? It brought up a very cheap Tesco Mobile offer for me, and I was umming and aahing, but seeing that they have UK call centres has swung it for me.

I'm also with Vodafone and contract finished a month or two ago - I'm assuming it's just rolling now?? What's the most efficient way of cancelling it??
It is only a bargain if you need it!

Ring up and tell them you want to cancel your contract or request your PAC if you want to keep your number.

Try Tesco mobile I recently switched to them from Orange, have got much better signal as they use 02's network, and for a sim only deal only 3 where cheaper and been with them before and would never return there.

UK call centres also, and both times I have called I have not had to wait to get connected, also good in-store mobile advisors although not every Tesco has them.

For clarification - your mobile would NEVER stop working because of the reasons you state. So your contract would not expire, only be minimum term. Certainly sales staff may call you and use these terms - but this is simply to pressure you into a fresh commitment.

If you do nothing, the phone continues to work as the contract continues until YOU give them notice or request a PAC to take your number.
