Has anybody else had this problem and error message when opening email attachments???

This file does not have a programme associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Defaults Programs control Panel

Just means you're computer doesn't have a file association setup to open up the relevant file type

If it's .htm, .html it can either be your webbrowser or your email client

What version of windows do you use?

Take a screen shot of it aswell, probably easier

Hi i'm using Windows 7

We want to make sure your Direct Debit payment is still set at the correct amount. To help us do this, we'd like you to give us your electricity and gas meter readings by 21 August 2012. It's easy to do, and helps make sure you'll only pay for the energy you use. You can submit your readings 24/7 using MyAccount‡, our secure online service, at edfenergy.com/my-account. Or call our free meter reading service on 0800 015 1736†. If you are unable to read your meter, please let us know by calling us free on 0800 056 2055†.
THIS IS WHERE I FIRST SAW THE ERROR Does that help?

Must be something odd about the link I clicked on.

Do you know which email program you're using?

Naturally one of the only programs I don't have installed to test with. You could try reinstalled Windows Live Mail from the essential apps downloader (the full downloader is about 140mb) if offline install. I use gmail / outlook for everything so don't have an issue, but I rec'd the error message in my screenshot when clicking the link in post #14

If that is the exact message then it doesn't work in my Windows Mail either!

It should be preceeded by http:// or https:// so it should read;

Solution:

Open internet explorer, tools, internet options, programs
Select the option for "use default"
Close all IE sessions and WLMail, relaunch
Should be working
