The problem I think I am developing is that I dont like spending money on 'non essential' things. I really struggle with myself when I buy something for me.YNWA

I have no idea how much I need to save though. How do you even begin to plan a wedding?
I would write a list of friends family will skills who can do things such as the photo's, make the cake, borrow a car, make the dresses, ring the church bells, do the catering, be the DJ/Band and asked them how much they will charge. Then work out where you want your reception and make a few calls find out the costs and go from there.
Me I know two photographers who will do my photos, My mum makes dresses, A friend is amazing with cakes, My nans friend is a bell ringer, I know of an organ player and as for the reception venue I want a festival style reception in a field with massive tipi tents a hog roast fairy lights and candles a ice cream van, a band and dj and everyone to camp over in a glamping style campsite............. I just need to find a groom now :rotfl:Aspiring to be financially independent.... from my parents!0 -
Outside of saving for the bigger picture, I'm saving for Bruce Springsteen tickets the next time (hopefully next year) he tours Europe. I'm one of those nuts who wants to see multiple shows, so I'm hoping to see about 6-8 shows next year.

I just saw him live a few weeks ago so my Bruuuuce fund is a little depleted right now, but hopefully I can build it up. :TThis is everybody's fault but mine.0 -

saving for a deposit/house. will need to move out in 3 years at 25. I am at £36k in savings right now, hope to save at least 60k, top potential 110k. Then once house is paid for, save £150k and live off interest, I am determined to make this happenThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Good luck with that! I've more than that saved and there is no way I could live off the interest - though it obviously boosts pension income

Saving for a deposit. Got £13500 in a 3.6% ISA and £250 per month into a share save at work. Looking to get myself on the property ladder in 2014 when it pays out.
Also living at home which allows me to save. On the down side I live in an expensive area of the world (In my opinion anyway!) And also desperately trying to avoid temptation to buy a new car! (Which does include more tax, more insurance, and poorer economy!)
Wish me luck!0 -
Ditto to that. I've more than double that saved.
On £150K, if you could get 5% net interest, it would only equate to £7500 a year.
oh man you could retire now! what age are you if you don't mind me asking? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
