I understand but what has this got to do with the OP situation.8k in 2015 Challenge ( #167)0 -

Because that's what the thread is about. Not bankers bonuses or university grants or mp expenses. That's why I've singled that particularly issue out.0 -

Take the job.
You'd get Return to Work credit for a year - which is £40 a month.
You'd get Working Tax Credit if over 25 - which would last as long as the wage is below a certain amount. Also, you may still get exemption so free prescriptions/dentists/opticians still* Jan NSD *

*Debts left to pay: 10 *

3 times - oh how I wish that were true. I'm onto my 3rd and my OH has had more than that. Didn't make us bankrupt or lose our home though.
The truth is that the benefit system should be a safety net for those that need them (the ill, the out of work but trying to find work, people made redundant with no savings). It should not be a lifestyle choice.
As for the bankers etc - I agree (though OT) but it's the same for Self Employed who cook their own books to pay a lower rate of tax or who refuse extra work to stay in their Tax Credit limit etc. This thread is only 1 example of things that people may not agree with so hardly singling out unemployed more responding to the direct question asked.0 -

Im against the 'should i work, or should i not work.' If you're capable of work and you have the offer of a job then you work.0 -

yes agree but the benefits started out as a safety net but now have become a full time income due to how many times people are made redundant and simply give up after the 6,7 or 8 times they lose a job, you openly admit yourself how many times you and hubby have lost jobs , it doesnt look good to convince anyone on benefits to think otherwise0 -
