I hadn't even thought of that until someone mentioned it on here
Apparently they had tried o high 5 him on his bike to start with, both were drinking energy drinks as well which makes me think they were just messing around on they're way home and they won't be seen again (hopefully) x0 -
I would tell son to never, ever take out his blackberry in front of strangers. but this is very strange......if they wanted to rob him why didnt they take his phone then? I would be very careful both of your son and your home. be vigilant and anything out of the ordinary, report to the police.
the fact that the mobile numbers are 'unknown' only means they are not contract. Pay as You go. Do be careful hun. New scams only become 'common knowledge' when a lot of people have been scammed!
actually, I would write the phone numbers down and keep them safe then delete from the phone.0 -
That's exactly what I did, I wrote the numbers down and told him to delete.
It's such a shame when kids can't even do a little paper round without us mums fretting!!!
Hopefully like I say if they wanted the phone or his expensive bmx that he saved for months for they would have took it today.
Thank you for your advice x0 -
Also the police said it was very Commendable for his quick thinking to say he didn't know us number x0

Did they give your son their mobile number? Have you tried the number? The curious me would want to ring it and ask what they are playing at.0

Get your husband to ring them, pretend he is your son and find out what they want him to do?Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

I'd say they wanted his number to divert call charges to (not that I would know how but you get these people who can do that kind of thing) next thing you know you've got a massive phone bill.
Good thinking of him to not give his number out.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

OP, all three of mine did paper rounds and my youngest boy regularly saw/ was spoken to home-going revellers. Your boy did the right thing, as did you.
The worst that happened to my son was a couple of men (over 25s) stole papers from his main bag which he'd left at a gateway while he climbed up to the door. The newsagent said this was fairly regular - not nice though.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Could be anything from 2 people having a laugh, or trying to mug him for his phone.
Whilst a blackberry maybe not be worth anything valve as a door-door seller. A new iPhone 3GS/4 will have some resale even as a iPod, even if blocked.0
