Hiya,
Just after a bit of advice really,as sensible level headed me is arguing with over protective mother me :rotfl:
My son is 14yrs old and does a paper round in the local area. He was out this morning about 20 to 8 ish and was approached by 2 young blokes aged early 20s . He says they looked like normal decent looking lads (as apose to obvious drop outs) and they said he obviously wanted to earn a bit of money and that they worked for the local golf club and could get him a job caddying and he'd earn £100 per week. They asked for sons mobile number but he said he didn't know it so both lads gave him their phone number and full name . Luckily son is pretty level headed and had the sense to say he didn't know his number. He told his dad as soon as came home.
I've been into the newsagents he works at just to let them know and maybe have a word with the other lads and I have also rang the golf place and obviously they have never heard of the lads or know anything about it.
Now, the sensible me says these lads were possibly on their way home from a night out and thought it would be a bit of a laugh at sons expense and as I have done my bit by letting newsagent and golf club know.
Overprotective me thinks they were trying to get him involved and be something like a drug runner for them or their part if a peadeophile ring or goodness know what else!!! That part of me wants to ring the police and report it.
Realistically I don't think son will ever see these blokes again and he does know to ring his dad straight away if he sees them approaching as his dad is always round and about with the dogs when he's on a paper round.
So please, talk some sense into me and tell me I don't need to do anything else!
Thanks x

I think I would pop into local station/ring 101 and let them know what happened and give them the details Son gave..as I would forever wonder about the 'what ifs' and then if something did happen I would blame myself..She has the loaded handbag of someone who camps out and seldom goes home, or who imagines life must be full of emergencies..0

I would perhaps get his dad to call the blokes... and then maybe call the police! xxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0

Me too.
If it's 'nothing' then no harm done. If it's 'something' then best the Police are aware.Herman - MP for all!

I'd call the golf club, too. They might be able to reassure you but if they couldn't I'd consider accompanying son on paper round for a while.0

Could they have been trying to get your son to get his phone out to see if he had one/which phone it was?
Best thing to do in the future is to say no thank you and walk/ride away. Don't even take phone numbers etc.
Also, I'd encourage your son to not judge people on how they look/act/dress. The most polite, nice and well dressed person can be worse than the ill-spoken, tracky-wielding youth who's every other word starts with f%$.

I would certainly pop into your local Police and give them the details, other kids may be approached as well.Personally I think they were after his phone, happened to my Nephew.Slimming World at target0

Thanks everyone, I've just rang 101 and the officer took both numbers they gave him and both came back unknown so he said not to worry about it!
Son did take his phone out to put numbers in and it's a decent blackberry
Maybe send dh and dogs with him next week as they are always out at the same time x0 -
hello having just read your post, i think these two lads were probably after stealing your son's phone:mad:0
