Texting abroad - any cheap alternatives!

Hi I have recently got in contact with an old friend in France - texting on my orange pay monthly plan is costing 17p a go - are there any cheaper ways of doing this (other than not speaking to him :rotfl: ) thanks!

As your on orange you can send 30 a month via their website

i use whatsapp aswell. great thing. can use for uk aswell, it works over data connection. you can sms, picture msg, send video files and files aswell

Whatsapp is currently free on iTunes. These free periods usually only last a week or so.

I have just signed up with VIBER as long as the other person has also downloaded it you can speak and text for free. You do both need an android phone. Sorry not savvy enough to do links but if you google the name you should find out all the information you need. IT is a free service a bit like using SKYPE on the computer.
