As a private seller, sometimes I've been pleasantly surprised by how much something lurking around the house has fetched on eBay, but most of the time, selling things (properly) on eBay requires a fair amount of time and effort for possibly no real gain.
I realise from my limited exposure on eBay that a few good sales isn't a representative indication of selling ability and a good photo and description isn't enough to make a successful business seller.
I respect those who can make a business out of selling on eBay, but I also recognise from the hassle I've had with occasional non-payers and feedback destroyers that it isn't a walk in the park."The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.
