QVC reviews of items censored

This may appear somewhere else but...
I was surprised to receive an email from QVC saying my review of a product had been rejected. Ok I am naive but I thought they put all reviews on their website.
My review was unfavourable to a product but complimentary to QVC as they allowed me to return the product postage free.
I checked their review guidelines and am still at a loss to see why they will not allow the review.
It was for the LG mouse/scanner and the software will not run on my computer. Apparently this is a common fault here and in the US.
So I will now not be too swayed by the reviews on QVC.

Presumably they didn't give a reason then? ... in which case ask them and see what response they give, although it may not necessarily be an honest one.
I'm not familiar with the QVC review system but it may be that negative reviews are not in their commercial interests. There have been such accusations made on this forum about Trustatrader & similar sites.0 -
This saddens but does not surprise me.
I blog about beauty products and generally when companies ask me to review their products they are happy with an honest review (positive or negative). I was therefore extremely surprised to have my review of a No7 product vetted by Boots and edited repeatedly before they gave me the green light for its use on my blog. I was furious with them and would not have accepted the product for review from them if I had known that I would have to write the review under these conditions (they did not state that this would be the case at all beforehand).
I keep meaning to write to their CEO about it actually.
So yes - a lesson to all - Google EVERYWHERE for product reviews before purchasing, particularly if something is expensive or you want it badly.0 -
Perhaps the review was rejected because it was unfair? If the product had the system requirements on it then its not the products fault that it won't run on your computer. It would be your fault for not checking that it was compatiable.
You weren't reviewing the product, you were reviewing your own computer. I would argue its unfair to review a product you can't get to work.
I would be very surprised if this mouse/scanner didn't work on any UK PC.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
QVC do not read the reviews themselves, an outside company does it on their behalf.
You cannot compare one product by name to another and things like that.
I have seen loads of reviews dissing products and QVC themselves appearing.
I have never had one rejected, no idea why? I stick to the facts etc when writing one.0 -
put a post on shopping telly forum

Tastecard are also bad for this too, they will only show complimentary reviews of the restaurants on their website which I find very misleading. I wrote a negative but fair review on a restaurant where we had exceptionally bad service and they refused to allow it.0

I submitted a very critical review of a poor product some months ago. There were already many, a majority in fact, of 1 star ratings and reviews slating the product.
I too received an e-mail advising my review did not meet the guidelines. I couldn't figure out why either because I'd followed them to the letter, or so I thought.
I did re-write another 1 star and it was accepted and published. I can't remember what I altered now but it really wasn't that much.
So I don't think they do reject negative reviews for the sake of it. Unless they're receiving too many now and have changed their policy?
It doesn't seem possible either, to submit a review on QVC when the item has sold out. There's no option to do so when the product item number is entered, just a message that it's sold out and asking if they may send an e-mail when it's back in stock. That sort of defeats the object of a review for that particular item then.0 -
If you mention Avon Cosmetics in any review for Liz Earle it gets declined!
I was told that they won't allow reviews that mention other company names...... but Liz Earle is OWNED by Avon!I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!
I seem to have a nasty habit of killing threads!0 -
But her fans still refuse to believe they own 100% of the company.:rotfl:0

I've heard this before of QVC and it's disappointing, making a mockery of the independence of the reviews.
I write reviews for the Amazon Vine programme, where companies issue products, often worth several hundred pounds, free of charge in return for honest reviews in the hope that sales will increase. I'm not aware of any editorialising there, as there are many very critical reviews. Quite often the company will respond via a published comment, hoping to lessen the damage.0
