Well done M.E. - nice to be able to join in with the bells! Did hear our church bells too. Much fresher here today - I have found the temperature really draining the last day or two - need loads of energy to keep up with DGD at the moment!
Looking forward to the Games getting underway now. Hope there are no major glitches of any variety.
Not too much HW going on just here, but place looks reasonable and I'm happy with that!
HH hope you find that career change. I know what you mean about feeling quite a different age to that on one's birth certificate! Pity other people can't see how we feel!
Hope everyone finding life a bit tough for whatever reason has a good day today.
    Take care of yourselves.

Morning all, another glorious day here so washing will go on line in a minute. Was up late last night helping my DD's friend with her wedding centrepieces so a bit tired today. Need to get on with more de-cluttering and tidying , doing well so far. Nice to see you posting again halight and glad the twins are ok , sorry about the job though it's very hard out there to get employment my DD has just graduated and is finding job hunting very dis-heartening.
Hugs to all in need, well done on the weight loss hilstep. Have a good day all.:)

    Morning everyone :hello:

Hester - I frequently think about a change in career. I don't think anyone is ever too old!

I have a friend who will be visiting at the end of her stay in the UK and she's jetting back to Qatar tomorrow, where she currently lives and works. I'm hoping to persuade her that watching the opening ceremony of the Olympics is exactly how she planned to spend a Friday night! Well, we might go to the pub first... :D

DH and I spent last night cleaning the house in preparation for my friend's arrival and now I've got to ensure that all of our ironing is off the guest bed and the sheets are clean. :)

Right, I'd better go as I've been wasting time watching Homes Under The Hammer. :o

    Bye for now.

halight glad to hear dd is feeling better

Morning all. It's grey and foggy here. I'm surrounded by jobs that need doing, vacuuming, WM, tidying, but it will have to wait as I need to finish the first draft of a research paper by 7pm  I am sooo sluggish and getting down in the dumps about my lack of dosh, oh getting on my nerves, all the usual rubbish which isn't really that important in the grand scheme of things :o
Dinner will be a ys potato chorizo thing with ys prepped veggies, ys apple pie for oh's pud.

    Morning all
Overcast here today, WM is on, fish fed & I'm just out the shower & waiting for my hair to dry, I hacked about 6 ins off it when I got up as I kept laying on it during the night.
I keep doing that; my hair is waist-length, but Mr LW won't let me cut it.:D
Still toying with a career change, I need to make some phone calls today, what's the betting they say I'm too old, oh well, wait & see. All I know is I can't keep on doing so much heavy lifting, I'm due to retire next year but inside I still feel 40, lol.
You're as old as you feel - don't take "no" for an answer!;) (Says she, who feels about 99 on a good day)
Not sure what the plans are today, it's hubby's last day off as he's now working Saturday & Sunday, he has 3 weeks to take by the end of September, they say they won't pay him if he doesn't take it but every time he books a few days off he's asked to cancel them!
If he's booked the days, and had the booking approved, he's entitled to take them. What if you'd decided (and paid for) a break in a hotel or something?? If that was me, I'd be turning my phone off - or at least red-buttoning it if it was work calling.;)

Mr LW and his colleagues have been told no-one can now book holiday in November or December, as they have some major changes occurring at that time; however, Mr LW booked his birthday and Yule very early on in the year, and had them approved, so those should be honoured (I shall be very angry if they insist he works Yule - that'd be like telling a Christian they have to work Christmas Day when they'd been promised it'd be a holiday).

Hilstep well done on the weight loss.:T I'm the same as you with the duvet, so we schedule changing the bed-linen for the weekend.;)

Not as unbearably hot today, thank goodness. I'm keeping an eye on the weather, as I have a machine-load of Mr LW's clothes out on the whirligig.:o

I must be one of the few here who is still lily-white; unfortunately I can't cope with sun exposure; Factor 30 and a hat are required just for hanging out washing!:D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

I would suggest that he considers "accidentally" leaving his phone in work, or handing it to his boss saying "I may as well leave it with you as I won't be able to get a signal where I'm going"...in your back garden ;)

Does Mr LW use that analogy if required, as it is very good ;)

Not much OS going on - WM had been on & put on again before I left for work, gooseberry puree bagged / boxed and left to cool (!) for the freezer, rice cooked for rubber chicken biryani tonight - must remember to pick up the indian beers!

DS2 is gracing us with his presence tonight - haven't seen him since March, despite him only living about an hour away!

Have got our allotment site Open Day on Sunday - I'm on the cake stall, so need to bake sometime, as well as tidying the plot up a bit!

    Good afternoon all,

just a quick hello to catch up on your posts and see whats been happening in your lives.

Still very hot here but no rain thankfully. Ive got a load of washing on the rotary and theres another load in the washer. I will have hubbies work clothes later on tonight so i want to get mine and my sons washing done and out the way as we tend to be busy on Saturdays.

Scoobie the chinchilla is suffering in the heat. Ive shut all the curtains downstairs, opened all the windows and door and its a lot cooler now down there. Downside of it is its very dark. I might air con the living room if the temperature goes up any higher.

Not sure what to do for tea yet, nobody seems to be eating. Neither me or my son are eating much and neither are the dogs... Oh well, we could all do with losing a few pounds.

Hoping you have a lovely day.

    Afternoon All,

Another one looking forward to the opening ceremony and the Olympics in general. Will be sat down to watch that.:D
Have been out with DH this morning and called at Mr T's on the way back so shopping done and put away.
It's much fresher here after the rain last night but still been quite a nice day.
Had a silly offer on the house so turned that down. But probably need to have a rethink if something doesn't happen soon. Possibly rent it out but I have my reservations:cool:
Tea tonight is steak and salad with just some fruit and jelly for dessert.
    Have a good evening all J x
