Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 27th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all,
Had heavy rain early this morning, but its stopped now, its meant to be a bit cooler today with showers, but its very hot atm.
Off to work for me today, will ask dd to do lounge and kitchen, and sweep through, I will put a wash on when I get in tonight.
Looking forward to the opening ceremony tonight, will get eaten and washed up so that we can sit and watch it.
BBQ tonight as long as the weather holds, we have chicken, burgers sausages, or some fish, so plenty of choice, as well as salads, buns, and new pots.
Ok better get on, have good days all xx

Morning all
Overcast here today, WM is on, fish fed & I'm just out the shower & waiting for my hair to dry, I hacked about 6 ins off it when I got up as I kept laying on it during the night.
Still toying with a career change, I need to make some phone calls today, what's the betting they say I'm too old, oh well, wait & see. All I know is I can't keep on doing so much heavy lifting, I'm due to retire next year but inside I still feel 40, lol.
Not sure what the plans are today, it's hubby's last day off as he's now working Saturday & Sunday, he has 3 weeks to take by the end of September, they say they won't pay him if he doesn't take it but every time he books a few days off he's asked to cancel them!
Time I watered the crops & hanging baskets.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Cloudy and overcast here this morning, forecast says sun will come out later. DH up and off to work at stupid early. Have just put washing out on the line.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, onion sauce, new potatoes and peas - was delish. Dinner for tonight I've got to organise but won't be anything to difficult - DS1 will be gone on his hols as he leaves at 3.30pm - so will be just DS2 and DH and myself. Have done an online shop to be delivered tomorrow morning between 8-10am, DH is going in to work, then we have to get the car sorted for our hols, need to get the roof bars and roof box on the car etc.
Will be going back to SM to take the trolley case back that I bought, am really not impressed as we got it packed and I was showing DS1 how to activate the pull-out handle and it broke off - it hadn't even been used properly so obviously faulty goods, so will take it back and get a refund - not very happy as thought it was cheap and was told there was nothing wrong with it!! Will be having words at Customer Service - if I'm not happy I'll be writing to Head Office. Just relieved it happened before DS1 had left and was then left struggling with a broken suitcase whilst away! Have done a ring and reserve on a different make and will collect that this morning, we will then pack straight away so he's all ready to leave. Have several jobs to do this morning so need to crack on.
Managed to get the ironing done yesterday was horrendously hot though, did do it quite early in the morning before it got too hot, also got our bed stripped, bedding washed and dried and bed re-made - that's what I love about the hot weather, no need to use Td and everything dries really quickly on the line, the bedding dried completely on the line in well under an hour!
Did manage to get my new sun lounger chair out and sat with a book for an hour in the afternoon, didn't go out until after 2.30pm and had an hour was completely covered with suncream factor 50 and didn't burn but it was really hot - wouldn't want to be out in the midday sun.
Remember the sun cream - it's really hot/muggy here again already!
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Have been occupied by the food bank this week but it's growing apace and there is a lot to do. I am getting used to standing outside supermarkets asking shoppers to donate food....

Morning redruby et al
Nice and sunny here, so hoping to get a wash on the line before I go to work. Littlies staying with DS (20) today, he's still only got his part time SM job, though trying hard to find something better and with more hours poor lad, bit depressing for him when he's a bright lad.
Going out with a few friends for a meal tonight, one was 40 the other day, so we're all escaping our kids and DHs for a couple of hours.
I've been looking through the OU prospectus for a week or so, but still can't decide what to do, I have too many interests!
Have a lovely day all, hugs and kisses all round.

morning!
another hot and sunny start here! 2 loads on the line already.
Have had a quick tidy and mopped the floors - am off to work on a late shift at lunchtime.
Looking forward to the opening cereemony tonight - luckily we can watch it at work:)
Weekend off to look forward to - got a shopping trip planned to spend my birthday money and vouchers.:)
didn't sleep well last night - far too humid here even with the fan on all night.
Hester - I'm also interested in your career change ideas. I love my job but with the way things are nothing is safe any more.
Your DHs bosses are being very unfair about his holidays - surely they cant make him miss them or not be paid when its their fault he cant take the?
Have a great day all xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning, quick one before I take the dog out.It rained hard here last night but is quite nice now and feels fresher.Hope it stays ok as DSons have gone off to a festival in Cumbria-the house will be quiet till Monday :DThey are picking up a mate, who will have to squeeze in the back, not much room for him with all the camping gear.
I've got some Chinese out for our tea,I need to use up some stuff from the freezer, its all jam packed in there, plus it'll give me a break while DSs away.DGD came yesterday afternoon as we wont see her over the weekend, earlier DB and DNiece came for their lunch, the big DN and her little boy,so a busy day for me yesterday.
Halight- lovely to see you posting ,though sorry you lost your job.Glad the girls are doing well & your health is ok at the mo.

Morning all:j:j
Not much on today.
My wife is working this afternoon, I going to take the girls to meet her out of work at the park, Twin two is much better with her chicken pox, Most of the spots now have scabs over them. She really needs to have a run about now she is feeling better. So we are going to let her have a run around on the grass at the park. We will be having fish and chips for dinner tonight.
We are also looking forwarded to the opening of the Games tonight. I hope it all goes well for those that are involved.
Have a good day all:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Good morning all,
It rained earlier on here, more of a drizzle really. Dull and cloudy now and alot cooler than it has been.
Had an awful nights sleep, too hot. I have got a bite on my arm and i kept waking myself up where i was scratching at it. It is getting bigger so i think i should keep an eye on it.
No real plans as such today. I have got to defrost the fridge freezer, hate doing that. When we lived in our other house we had a frost free one but in this one it is built in.
Tea tonight is pizza, wedges and salad. Need to get some of the food out of the freezer.
hilstep, well done on the weight loss :T.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.
