bloody prius scratched up my front bumper and left without note

Parked my car at tescos car park. I take really good care of my vehicle. especially the paintwork, spend a lot of time waxing the car.
The prius I parked next to had the same colour as mine, plate 11, which is 2011 model. Mine is a 52 plate which is 2002. But the paintwork on mine was better.
So that's why I know that it was a 11 plate prius, normally I wouldn't know toss who I parked next to.
I left and did my shop, came back to find a dark merc in the place of the prius, and found a long scratch on the front [prisus side] of the bumper.
Now, I went into tescos for probably 7mins max, I just went in to get drinks, there is a probability that the prius could have left legitimately and another silver car came and scratched my car.. But in the space of 7 mins I think it's unlikely to happened.
Lucky my car is a vw, which means it has a hard paint compare to crappy prius. So the prius' paint got rubbed onto mine, I'm guess it got wrecked pretty bad. My car was OK it has slightly damage which can be touched up.
So I phoned up my insurance and just notified them without claiming, I did this because I've heard of cases where a "not at fault" driver kept hush hush and didn't report the damage for stuff like this and then face a claim against them when the other driver phoned their insurance and made a fraudulent claim.
I'm wondering now that I've done this, will my premiums increase or anything?
Cheers.

Try rubbing your paint with t cut or similar to take off.
I would not have told insurance, unless it was a claim??
Be blessed that the green god of motoring touched your vehcle in passing. Be blessed. LOLThe world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -

as mentioned earlier, it's important to mention this in case the other person decides to screw you and phone their insurance and claim that I've scratched theirs.
I know cars, it's not a tcut job, this some parts have been scratched straight into the plastic so it needs to be reprimed and painted.0 -
You take good care of your vehicle and it gets damaged in a car park....i could write a book on this.
I truly believe this is often done deliberately by brain donors who drive unloved uncared for heaps of junk badly or equally badly driven company cars, my wife takes great care of her cars, always parks carefully away from others and yet it seems to attract dents and scrapes regularly, too many times for coincidence, pure envy by those too bone idle to look after their things.
To confirm this we used to have a really rough old Volvo estate, wasn't worth washing or waxing as the paint was literally worn away, she would literally abandon that car anywhere and it never got touched.
We've learned our lesson, they win, no more nice cars, when our present vehicles are eventually scrapped, an old battered Landcruiser or pick up will be the replacement, complete with front and rear crash bars, the low life's will then be welcome to do their worst.0 -
yep they seem to always wang my cars... my old red fiesta was reversed into in a local asda car park... luckily i had a spare boot in the same colour in the shed.. !!!!!!!s!!!Sealed pot challenger # 10

In this situation the OP could simply invite the insurance company to ask Tesco for CCTV footage of the carpark which would show the OP's car being parked up.
Also, keep hold of your reciept from when you nipped in store..0 -
i spend i bit of time parked up in asda tesco car parks whilst waiting for the missus, ive come to notice a pattern, and sorry ladies, but i see more females smack a car in a car park than a male does.
i whitnessed a woman getting out f her car everso gently, turn around in the small space she had and then lean into the car to her bag, the space was big enough her bum pushed the door into the other car with a bit of force wich the bang startled her, as the door was against the car now anyway she continued to grab her bag then pull it up to the roof then when turning hip bumped the door back into the other car for a second smack toddle off with her bag to get a ticket open the door and yet again smack the car next to her lean in put the ticket on the dash and then smack the car door again leaning out and shut it up and lock it.
i watch a woman who reversed into a space (duh!!) lean her trolly against the bumper of the car next to hers so it dont roll away walk in a bit and put the mirror of the car next to her inwards then put hers in, then grab the trolly and pull it down inbetween both cars scratching the hell out her own the the other car, fill her boot up, quickly put both mirrors out jump in and then quickly scoot off, leaving the trolly that was propped on her rear bumper to roll into the car she didnt scratch up but now put a dent in!.
a bloke reversed his van into my dads fiesta, i hadnt long fininshed work gone home and had to get the kids and missus from asda, parked up and went in to help pack, over the annoucement tannoy can owner of a red fiesta reg xyx come to the information desk please, i went over there was a trolly boy, who said theres been an accident in the car park, your car is involved, i ran out to find this pug partner van blocking the road, rad water all over the floor bits of grill everywhere and a smashed headlamp looked at my car, and he had hit the panel that was so full of hardened filler and cracked up paintwork he didnt do any damage to the panel at all, just scraped the bumper. i told him it was upto him to go through insurance or get it repaired himself theres very minimal damage to the fiesta just a scratch in the bumper, i took a statement off asda staff who witnessed him saying he did want to go through insurance and that he had hit my car whilst i was shopping and we all had a copy and signed it.
i do see more women bumping and dinting things than men who tend to get out holding their door from hiting another car. more women than men have reversed out of or pulled out of a space and not noticed me coming and nearly drove into me than men have done. not saying its a verified stat, just what i have obsurved from my own experiences.0 -

Now you have reported this, you will have to continue to disclose the incident when applying to new insurers for quotes in future.
You can get a rough idea what this incident in your history will do to your premium by doing virtual quotes online with and without the incident.0 -
i read around it. I made a mistake to disclose it to insurance. But I felt like I had to do it or otherwise face bigger consequences of a fraudulent claim against me.
interesting viewing http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2011/10/insurance_exclusions.html
jist of it, any accident even those not your fault can count against you because you are "higher risk".
Video also answers another question I had lon time ago about whether car insurance companies have a database similar to experian or equifax to share your insurance info. They do.
Another opinion from a insurance broker is that an accident which is not your fault including a hit & run on your car regardless of claim or non-claim will affect your premium next year unless you can make a claim against the other cars insurance company.
basically the insurance companies need to "close" the case, and the only way a case is closed is when your successful make a claim from the other car's imnsurance. A hit n run inflicted on you by an unidentified third party is not a closed case even if you agree to fix it yourself.0 -

This "insurance broker" opinion isn't up to date!
Do a search here and on the net and there is a lot of evidence that non fault claims (where innocent third parties get all their costs paid by the other side) still result in a premium loading for the "victim".0 -
Good to see the Prius owner applying ethical standards to their own behaviour.0
