Large (feathered) birds on busyish dual carriageway - what should/would you do?

I was driving home on the inside lane of a dual carriageway. There were 2 seagulls on the road directly in front of me. I slowed down and hooted and thought they had driven off. Until I heard a bang on my roof and a chunk of bird landed on my windscreen. My view wasn't obscured and I had no (safe) choice other than to drive off.

What should I have done? I know I shouldn't do an emergency stop because of birds on the road as it would obviously present a danger to myself and other road users.

    Do in relation to what?

There is no requirement to stop or report it.

They are vermin. Don't worry about it.

You should have rung the police straight away, seagulls should not be driving cars.:D

I wasn't asking what action I should take now, I was asking whether I could have done anything differently at the time. I have wondered whether I would have been better just carrying on as if they weren't there and they may have flown out of the way anyway, or they may have got down so low that I could drive 'over' them without damaging either them or the car.

Even if I liked killing creatures - which I don't - it's not pleasant driving home with a chunk of warm raw meat on your windscreen

I meant to say 'flown off' lol! I don't think there is any law against them driving cars though :rotfl:

Were they on a Pelican crossing at the time?
